Hello,
I'm 59 years old and finally learned to ride a motorcycle both from a friend and his bike and an MSF course. It's something I've wanted to do as a kid when I grew up close to a Kawasaki dealership. The women in my life, starting with my mother, wouldn't hear of it but now I'm on my own. After researching I realized that I'm not the typical rider. I live in Harley Davidson land (Milwaukee, WI) but I have no desire for an HD cruiser with open pipes and all that. Maybe the new Pan America. :)

But in researching I find that an adventure bike is for me. If German engineering matched its reputation I might consider another bike but I'm really digging the S10 the more I read and view. I'm looking at a 2013 but I just haven't been able to synch up with the private seller yet. If all goes well, I should be biked up by next weekend. I've enjoyed what I've learned on this forum over the past few days and I look forward to learning more and joining the S10 club.

Hi from Mexico! I own a 2013 and I love it!
My recomendation is that you take as manydriving courses you can to assure you develop the skills to drive safe every time you are riding your bike.

Welcome aboard!

The S10 won’t let you down and all the knowledge is right here. So go testride and enjoy!

Stefan

Thank you! I plan to do just that. Safety is #1 for me, especially as I get older. ;-)

Thank you, Stefan! I'm so impressed with the network of owners, and everything I learn about the S10 makes me think it's the wildly underestimated bike in the adventure class.

Cheers,
Mark

Absolutely, and I think if you look around the forum you'll find other Super T owners in your general area (not me, I'm way down in Texas). You won't regret whichever year you buy, although Gen II (14+) models have an improved clutch and timing chain tensioner, plus a few more bells and whistles. I have a 2013 and am perfectly content with it (cruise would be nice, but there are workarounds for that).

Welcome to the forum and hopefully welcome to the herd of ST owners.

I discovered that difference online between the 2013 and 2014. Good to know there are happy 2013 (and earlier) owners like you out there. I’m really looking forward to it. I made contact with the private seller today who is a great guy and is actually selling it for a buddy of his that died of Covid last November (on behalf of his buddy’s widow). Must be nice to have a longer riding season in Texas!

Another welcome from Texas. Yeah, we're kinda spoiled with out 12 month riding season. Spring & Fall are our best riding times . . . . and our Summers get hot . . . . but, I wouldn't want y'all's Winters. One of our members, Cycledude, lives up in WI, and rides in the snow.

Welcome, I'm about 100 miles north of you and I too own a 2013 model. Good luck with your purchase. Hopefully we can get a few weeks of riding in before the snow gets here.

Currently have 68 months without missing, yes I live right in the middle of Wisconsin, the Tenere doesn’t get ridden much during winter because the Goldwing has much better wind protection.
I would love to take one of those new Harleys for a test ride, the reviews mostly seem very good and I got a chance to look one over about a month ago and was impressed.
Most likely if I was buying a new adventure bike it would be a Africa Twin with DCT but I have been a pretty big Honda fan for many years.

Greetings from NY and welcome aboard this forum.
I also own a '13 S10 which I bought from the original owner in June '18 and I absolutely enjoy it every time I ride it.

That's awesome. I hope you can keep up that record. But it seems you don't nee my hope to make it happen. :)

Yesterday, 10/30/21, I bought my 2013 S10. The former owner nicely brought it up to me from 30 minutes away (his wife drove separately). Actually, it was his best friend's bike and his friend died of COVID last November! :-( (The title was properly handled to get to me). It looks practically in mint condition (8k+ miles). I took it for a ride around the neighborhood yesterday and it was easier than I thought it would be. I was kinda intimidated having not ridden anything but a Suzuki 250 (MSF class bike), and 30 minutes on my buddy's Honda Shadow. At one quiet stop sign I dropped it. :-( Only very minor scratches. I wish I had a video to see how I did that and learn from it. Not sure how I got off balance...maybe my wheel was turned. Nevertheless, I'm pumped! I don't have to tell the rest of you that this bike becomes the best looking bike after a while. ;-)

Congratulations, that is a real clean looking '13 S10 with a nice set of aftermarket seats, a nice pair of side cases,
an aftermarket skid plate, a side stand foot extender and a set of Michelin Anakees 3s.
Do yourself a big favor and get some crash bars ASAP!
It appears that the PO removed the factory side protectors that are mounted right below the lower panels which means
you currently have nothing to protect the left side mounted radiator in the event of a hard drop on the left.
