Hi Eric. Looked again this weekend. 3 wire plug is nowhere to be found! Only the 4 wire one. I have a plan for my wiring, so I am ok with connecting accessories, I just was frustrated to not find a plug that everyone else has.
Did you buy the motorcycle second-hand?…..if so, it is likely that the previous owner used the connector for some installation (such as auxiliary headlights), and the triangular connector is no longer loose….it is used in a connection, pluged in a wire, that's why you can't find it alone
But it is strange that being a 2016, you have the 4-pin connector. The 4 pin is the OBD port, and this appeared in 2017. The 2016 should have OBD on the dashboard…

Any chance the three wire plug is in use? It's a triangular shaped white connector. Usually when you find the four wire one, the three wire one is right there too. (edt - The four pin OBD II connector is a big square one, that's not what we are looking for. The white four and three pin connectors are much smaller than that.

The OBD II connector looks like the mating version of this: 77CAA5CE-E2A7-4A6B-B335-3CA9DD03990D_1_105_c.jpeg

Here is an old thread with some pictures and videos that may help. At least show you what you're looking for.

Note that on Gen I bikes the four pin connector was for heated grips. On Gen II bikes they have two smaller gray two pin connectors for the heated grips. I can't recall if the Gen II bikes have the white four pin connector still.

Bought the bike second hand. I thought the same, so checked accordingly. No sign of wiring for lights or other accessories. I've started to work on connecting my own accessories, using one of the pins from the 4 pin plug continuous +12V for the relay and the rest from battery and to the accessories. I will post another time some pictures. Thanks for the replies.

Be careful with that 12v wire from the 4-pin connector...those 12v come from the ecu only to power an external scanner. I don't know if it's fused, I don't know what power it can handle...the 4 pins plug, is not a accesories plug (the accesories plug have a fuse)
But I'm confused….The 2nd gen started in 2017 (it's easy to identify it because you don't have access to the diagnostic menu on the dashboard)...you say yours is a 2016. Maybe the 2016 came with a 4-pin accessory plug. and diagnostics in the dash….and it did not have the 3-pin plug. It's not what we normally see...but it could be
Look at the Links that Eric sent…2013 and 2016…they have the 3-pin connector

That’s a a good point. Maybe I should leave that 4 pin connector alone and get a +12V from the battery, put a small fuse, for it is only for the relays. I’ll post later the diagram that I only have in mind right now.

The '14 bikes were the first with CC and heated grip functions via the dash/ECU instead of a separate control unit. My understanding has always been that was the start of Gen II bikes.

I had a '12 and a '15, but don't have one in the garage now.
