Not really an "Event" per se, but just a callout to Colorado area riders who might want to get together for some easy dirt riding some time in the next few weeks.

I've been seeing reports that Shelf-Road and Phantom-Canyon road are free of ice and snow, and clear for riding (although that might change with the weather we're supposed to get this week)
I have weekends free, and was thinking of getting some Riders together for a nice loop from Colorado-Springs.
I can normally do either Saturday or Sunday.

Meeting-Place would be Rudy's Country-Store on Hwy-24

The basic Route would be:
*Old-Stage rd
*Shelf Rd
Lunch stop in Canon-City somewhere (yet to be determined)
*Skyline Drive for those that are interested
*Phantom Canyon rd
Then either return to CO-Springs on Old-Stage rd or take pavement (hwy-67 to Hwy-24) back to CO-Springs.

This is all easy, flat-graded dirt roads...............so if you are a beginner on dirt, there are no technical sections on this route.
Come join up if you want to try some easy dirt!
This won't be a fast-paced ride............Just want to get some Riders together for some fun, and some great Scenery.

I'll leave this open to any brand of ADV-Bike. (I invited my neighbor who rides a V-Strom)

I'll be riding down from Denver whichever morning we decide on, so I'll say:
Meetup time will be 9:00am at Rudy's.
Kickstands up around 9:30am give or take a few minutes.

I'll post up a map of the route here shortly.

There are also a couple places to bail-out along the route if you didn't want to ride ALL the dirt. (example: Return to CO-Springs via Hwy-115 from Canon-City, or bail-out at Cripple-Creek and head back via 67 and 24)

Post up here if you are interested in joining us!
I'll add the date once it's decided.

If there's some Denver area takers that want to ride down with me, I'll post up a meeting-place and time to gather before heading down to the Springs that morning.
Return to Denver area will either be Hwy-67 through Deckers and Sedalia, or possibly via Rampart Range rd if we're wanting to ride even more dirt. (if it's open........It's currently closed with no-access during "Mud-Season")

The first leg of Dirt is "Old Stage Rd"
As the name implies, it was once a Stage route.
It also was at one time, a Railroad-Grade and is mostly flat and level with gradual curves.
It is now 27-miles of dirt-road.

We'll ride west from Colorado Springs, and meet back up with pavement just east of Cripple Creek.
There is at least one old RR-Tunnel that we'll ride through on this section.

We'll ride to the Mine Overlook on our way over to Cripple Creek, where the next leg of Dirt is 13-miles on "Shelf Rd"
This road is also mostly flat, with only a few hills and plenty of great scenery!

We meet back up with pavement near Red Canyon Park, and then it's another 13-miles into Canon-City where we'll stop for lunch somewhere.

After lunch we'll ride north on "Phantom Canyon Rd" which is 25-miles of Dirt.
This was once an old Railroad-Grade, and is mostly flat as well, as it winds its way through the Canyon.
There are a couple Wood-Planked, curved-Bridges that have been modernized since the RR days, and at least one Tunnel that we'll pass along the way.
We meet back up with Pavement at the Town of Victor.

Also, while we're in Canon-City we'll take the opportunity to ride "Skyline Drive"
A short little one-way route along the Hog-Back Ridge next to town.
It's paved, with "One-of-a-kind" Views.

You're killing me. I wish I was closer and could join. I love riding colorado as proof in my profile picture at Cinnamon Pass.
If you ever get out this way, let me know.
I'm usually up for a ride on the weekends, even fancy some moto-camping for a few days.

What do You like better, Phantom rd or Shelf Rd?
I like Phantom Canyon rd better.............It's twice as much dirt, but they both have their different qualities.
I like riding them both in a loop, unless I need to make half of that loop "Pavement", then I'll choose Phantom Canyon.

Temporary Postponement of this get-together/Ride.
Once they clear this up, I’ll re-post here and we’ll get something going.

I freaking love Colorado. I rode on some of those same roads when I was out there in 2018, and it was epic. They had just reopened Phantom Canyon Road before I got there, and man, I'm glad I didn't miss it.
