Why don't we ask the Admin to put this discussion where it is front and center. I had a heck of a time finding it again. I'ts hard to generate interest in the event if no one knows about it.

Steve
I agree 1000 %

I hope this gets done!!!!

I reserved a spot at the KOA online. I thought the KOA kinda expensive till I looked at other sites and Motels. The message I get when called is that they will be back on the 13th. I’ll call then and see what can be arranged.

RETIRE on Tuesday!
Congrats, Bob! I have a number of friends reaching that milestone this year. Still too far off for me to be jealous. I just can't allow myself to think about it.

Also too soon for me to know about this event. I'm either going to be riding Colorado in late June/early July, or the week of July 15th. If I do the late June date, I might be able to make this (still a long shot). If I'm there the week before, then no way I'll be able to make this event.

When you call ask them how many tents, vehicles and persons allowed per campsite. If each campsite cost could be split with another that really helps.

Will do and will post it here. My wife really wants to come on this ride. If I was riding alone I wouldn’t worry so much about reserving a spot. But if my wife comes along, that’s one hassle I don’t need.

The Ouray KOA website says there can be up to 4 people on a tent site and does not mention any restrictions on the number of tents.

When I was there for the 2013 Gathering, I camped in the back and the tent sites were grass, large, and level with plenty of room to put several tents on each site. The bath house is in the center of the meadow. Those tents sites are large enough for 3 or 4 tents

I'm going to reserve a site and I'm willing to share.

It doesn’t tell you what site. At least not that I could tell. It showed a picture. I got an RV site with water/electricity. Looked nice and roomy. Wasn’t much more than a tent site. I’m willing to share as well. It looks like they charge by how many people are at each site.

I try calling, and now the mailbox is full. Don’t even get a message.

I think I am planning on riding over on the 24th, so should be there that night.

Please try to make it. Not sure if I can ride with tall skinny Bob this year but still have a chance with you. I can provide a bed if you are not tenting.

I will get there on Thursday and requested a site close to the Ténéré tent sites. Leave on Sunday but could stay a day or so longer if anybody around to ride with.

Thanks, Bob. Appreciate the offer.

We figured out we'll be in Colorado in early July. That improves my odds of making it, but still too early to say.

WE. It is a small bed. Oh well.
At the moment my wife and I are planning a ride to Sedona, or Vancouver staring in mid June. Both rides are expected to pass through Colorado on the way home. I say "at the moment" because last night we started discussions on pushing it all back to try to make this event. We'll see how that goes.

If we both make it, we'll be renting one of the cabins at the KOA.

Wish I could make it. You oughta reserve the cabin anyway. You know it's the only way you'll get some sleep and can always cancel or turn it over to somebody else.

I made reservations today for a tent site. As far as I can tell, it's the same price base price for two in a campsite and additional costs for the third and fourth person. I make my reservations for 2 so if anyone wants to share the tent site, no changes have to be make to the reservation.

I tried to call and got a recorded message that the KOA won't be open till May 1. In looking at the reservation site, all of the cabins are reserved and just a few tent sites and rv sites are left.

I you are planning to attend or even sitting on the fence, you should go ahead and get a reservation make.

That would be a real bummer if it works out to be accurate.

Anyone know if there are other camp grounds or hotels near the KOA?
