Hello

This season was my first with the XT 1200 super tenere. I really enjoyed the ST but I have a problem.

The cold engine doesn’t want to run smoothly. Floating RPM also engine traction complicated up to 3k rpm.

I replaced the sparks, checked coils, did valve clearance. After replacing sparks, the situation improved but did not resolve.

I am sharing a video link where seen at 1.00 min and 1.10 min what am I talking about.

Could you advise where I should look for a problem?

Thanks.

Hi, recomend to verify the Crankshaft sensor! I might be wrong or contaminated with metal particles in the sensor!

It will help if you include some history including model year and mileage

I have ST for a fairly short time, with this failure I bought it this summer. ST was manufactured in 2013, the mileage about 50k km.

Are you talking about vacuum caps to which hoses connect for TBS?

Yes, the right one is little rubber cap, and the left has a hose to another sensor. Ive seen issues before with the right having cracks and leaking. Once this was changed everything was fixed (in my case) Its just a simple and inexpensive thing to look at and double check. Also make sure on the left side the hose is pushed all the way in and looks to be in good condition. Onetime I started a Tenere with the left side hose off and the whole engine was like a bucking-bronco. These air ports are really sensitive.

While your at it adjust and sync your throttle bodies. There are MANY articles about backing out the air screw 3/4 of a turn and then sync'ing the throttle bodies. These works well on ALL Tenere bikes.

Agreed. I never had that off-idle stumble, but adjusting the airscrew was the only way I could get the throttle bodies to balance.

After ruling out vacuum leaks, I would try cleaning the throttle position sensor. the one on the left (throttle) side seems to work fine. the one on the right side (cold start, cruising speed), could be misreading the position where it really is. It seems that the fault is in a few rpm very little "above" the idle ... .. already in idle rpm (hot), the fault is not seen
