Yes I am a dumb ass. I am changing my rear tire, and I accidentally knocked the pads out of the caliper. Question is, i see three clips that flew out. Do they go under the brake pads? Can't seem to figure it out in my head.....thanks!

the clips i am talking about are number 10 . Are they absolutely necessary? i got everything together without the clips. I will take it apart tomorrow if I need to .

Thanks for the schematic!

Absolutely? Not quite. But they do need to be there. They are what the pads ride on to protect the alloy mounting bracket from the steel pad backing plate. They also take up that little extra space so the pads don't rattle. They fit/clip onto that Y shaped mounting bracket right where the pads ride. You'll figure it out when you pull the pads back out.

I think if a manufacturer put them in, it's probably a good idea to go with that. Are they absolutely necessary, not in a pinch, but the ads will rattle and possibly make contact whilst riding, it only takes five minutes to fit.

if it makes you feel better, I just did a rear wheel change and the left side one popped out on me. It was a beach getting it back in......

Number 11 fell out of mine last time I had the rear wheel off, was kind of a pain putting them back in but I don't understand what's holding your brake pads in place if number 10 fell out.

The pads are not hold by this little piece of metal. There is a groove in the caliber, where the pads are located.
(and also number 10)

Google 'yamaha motorcycle parts fiche' and you'll get some good choices.

Oh yeah, which shims are missing, 10 or 11? 11s are less important than 10s.

I believe number 10 comes included with new pads but maybe not ? , they are supposed to help with cooling.
They do not, separate item. Pads are sold in pairs.

Neither 10 or 11 come with the pads. I've got a full set of pads in my parts box.
