Check engine light with no throttle response

Guys,
so i've got a 2012 super tenere with high miles (79,000+). Runs great mostly, but i've had a couple weird incidents recently.

Today I went to pass a truck, and suddenly lost throttle response and the check engine light came on. I got pulled over and it was idling around 1500 rpm, and twisting the throttle did nothing. i shut the engine off with hte kill switch, then power cycled with the key. restarted engine- check engine light was gone . I didn't notice if there was anything displayed on the dash- code or whatever. wish i'd been more attentive there.

couple weeks before it was dying on me when i pulled the clutch in with no throttle. basically attempting to idle at zero RPM. no check engine light accompanied this incident. once again a "reboot" by power cycling the key cured the issue.

I would suspect maybe a failing throttle position sensor in the throttle body?

Also-wasn't there some kind of wiring recall on these bikes? I don't believe that was done . I do have he updated CCT and clutch basket- though i don't think that relates to this issue at all.

thanks all.

Take your Vin number to a local Yamaha dealer. They can search by VIN to see if the recall has been done.
Here is the thread on the recall. Lots to read there.

Basically corrosion in the harness causes many issues. Recall includes replacing part of the harness.

I just ran my VIN on the NHTSA website, says no unattended recalls. So either this bike wasn't effected, or the work was done.

Is there a way to retrieve a code from the ECU?

Go to Yamaha-Motor and check the VIN there too. Sure does sound like the no idle / high idle scenario that affected some GEN I's.
