My Kawasaki Voyager currently has 668,000 kms on it, 403k on the original engine. This is a big SOHC 4 valve per cylinder v-twin with 2 automatic cam chain tensioners and the chains & tensioners are original and trouble free. The tensioners are actually buried inside the crankcase, hydraulic applied with a ratchet to prevent slack. Completely trouble free engines, oil change every 10k and spark plugs at 100k, nothing else.
I have a 3rd engine ready to install at 800k, just for peace of mind.
Plus no valve lash checks or adjustments ever on that motor!

Anyone figure out what the differences are yet, on the 2nd -> 3rd gen ACCT?
If it's like any place I've worked that manufactured things, the primary reason for changes and/or redesigns on an exchangeable part is cost reduction. In my first job as a design engineer many years ago at a major computer company, new products had a mandatory cost reduction program for each of the 5 years following introduction.

Old thread.

The newest CCT certainly didn't go down in price. It went up pretty dramatically. It also superceded all part numbers for the CCT from the original model to today.

Sure doesn't seem like just a different supplier to drive down costs.
