Well it's California lol, no hard feelings but California sucks... My brother lives there and you couldn't pay me to go there for anything other than a short vacation/visit.

Arrow headers.

Reason #5,023,698 why living in California sucks

ECU reflash is equally illegal in California
Born and raised here so I've learned to live with it. At one time I thought about moving. But now I'm committed to caring for my mother in law. One day I dream of riding into the sunrise and never looking back.

If I bought the tools or hired out the de-cat job I would have been out $100 plus. Sooo I bought the Arrow headers for $330. and kept the stock unit just incase Colorado ever required emission testing in the future. Or someone out there ratted me out.

And when you think about it you saved money at the end of it. At over 100.00 per hour labor you are well ahead buy purchasing a set of headers.

On another note, but related to this conversation, is the fact that from 2014 on, the ground clearance is less because the cat is slightly different than the Gen 1's. I found this out because, years ago, I made my own skid plate for my '12 and when I got my '14, it would not fit. A real advantage of the Arrow headers, besides the performance gain, is that it offers the most ground clearance. All this is moot unless you modify the rear mount of the skid plate to get it as close as you can to the pipe, but since I made mine, I had that option.

I know this is an old thread but I just wanted to thank the OP for the tutorial. I did the exact same thing to my brand new bike today. I would post pics but they look exactly the same. I was amazed that the exhaust can even flow through such restriction. As soon as I get my ecu back from Anthony, I will be excited to take it for a ride and hopefully discover positive changes all around.
Saved over $350 by not purchasing new headers and didn’t take an hour total from start to finish. Thanks again for the great instructions!

Hey, thank you for this excellent write up. I just went to Harbor freight and picked up the necessary tools to do this exact operation to my header.
