Hi guys, have 2 questions! Are the the carbon fiber engine side covers much lighter than the stock ? Also is there a big difference in weight by changing the exhaust to a carbon one ?

And the normal bonus question ;) will Yamaha update the the Super Tenere soon ?
You probably heard that one before!

Thanks.

more than the weight, it is very likely that carbon fiber panels are much more resistant to breaking in a fall

Those side panels aren’t very heavy to begin with so weight savings is minimal at best. They do look cool though. I replaced my muffler with a Delkevic, and it’s a good 10-12 lbs lighter than OEM. I didn’t do it for weight saving purposes but the Li battery I have is probably ~8 lbs lighter than OEM.

Lol you sure:D in Denmark the price is $1000 each, so they must be very special;)
If you simply like the look of carbon fibre without the expense, here’s the answer......

Interesting and the battery is as good quality as the original?
Time will tell. It’s only about 20 months old, so I’ll reserve some opinion on longevity for now. It does crank the bike a lot more vigorously though. It’s a Scorpion brand, I got at Batterystuff.com.

It's purely down to the aesthetics. The weight savings are minimal, leaving the costs questionable IMHO.

The weight of the rider has far more influence on the GLW, so better to check in with WW icon.

Those panels were on my bike when ibought it and yes they look nice! But I don’t believe they are real and full carbon. They appear to be made from thin polyester and covered with a single or double layer of carbon. They are over €770 each over here. I got a tiny tear in one after an unintentional dismount. Fixed it with some glue.

I made my own carbon panels. Sure they're lighter, but I'm fat. So that's not really the point. I also had a titanium can, but again, I'm fat. Also, if you have lights mounted on your bars that can drive a bolt into one of those panels in a tip-over, it's gonna make a nice scratchy hole.
If you want carbon panels, get them. They look badass. Don't do it for the weight savings unless you're already only like 135 pounds in your riding gear.

Well I am 100kg in my birthday suit, probably 15kg too much, so weight savings should probably been done on the menu first...

If you own a S10 and want weight savings it may be the wrong bike. I wanted weight saving and sold mine for a KTM 790. It's a great bike but weight saving is not its strong suit. Well, it doesn't even have that suit in its closet.
