I have a small Nuvi with lifetime maps that I use on street bikes, it was bought in late 2010 from Dallas Costco, and as much as I try I can not kill the thing. No bluetooth, I tried to solder on a jack to the speaker pick ups and it makes a hissing noise, so I apparently suck at that. I also have an old, dim zumo that is hard wired to the S10 so I don't use the nuvi as much anymore

I have used my Garmin 7 inch GPS on 5 different motorcycles. It is tough as nails. I used silicone and Gorilla tape to waterproof it and it is still going strong.

Yup, I sure do. I have a Garmin Drive Smart 61. LMT.
Six inch screen and I bought a handle bar mount on Ebay for 25 bucks or so. The mount fits onto the handlebar and there is Garmin compatible ball attached. Just put your GPS on the ball. Here's why I bought the 6 inch and not the 5 inch screen.
In the sunlight it is nearly impossible to see the 5 inch, but the 6 inch is very good in sunlight, because the pixel count is much much tighter than the five inch.
Only draw back is if it rains, cover it up or remove it and put it a dry place.
Vibrations, well I have used the Garmin GPS for two years now and all good (Africa Twin).
I also have a car Dash Video camera mounted up near the speedo. When I turn on the key, GPS and camera both light up.
Hope this helps.

What type of handlebar mount? Are you using a RAM Mount X-Grip? like this
What about the power connection, any problems with it coming unplugged? If so what are you doing to fix the problem?

Hi, I found a handlebar mount that fits onto the handlebars using 4 nuts and screws.
The ball is compatible with the Garmin Drive Smart GPS. I think the ball diameter is a standard size. No problems with it coming unplugged. I mounted the GPS behind the windscreen. In addition I secured the unit with a zip tie so if it did decide to blow off in the wind stream then the zip tie would prevent it from leaving the bike.
Have a look at Ebay under a search for "Garmin GPS motorcycle handlebar mount".
I didn't see exactly what I have, but there were numerous options available and cheap as well.
