I might be the first and only Canadian buying one of these :)
HA Not the first (I ordered mine in September in MI) and I'm hoping not the only. I heard that there were a lot of people checking it out at the Toronto show this past weekend. My Dad sent pics - they had one to sit on and another naked to show all the good bits.

Come on May!

The price of $16500.00 is lower the I thought but... still too high considering what are American friends are paying. So the options are
A) low ball an offer in and see what the reaction is .
B) Import one from the USA at something like $13000.00 CAD
C) Wait a year and get a discount note they are advertising 2009 new FJR's at 4000.00 off.

Yamaha Motors Canada is at fault here not the dealers they set the MSRP to high and they suck !!!!!

I saw the ones at the Toronto Motorcycle show last weekend. I think I will probably order one from my local dealer, but will probably wait until early in the new year. I am hoping that dealers have some room to negotiate. $16,500 does seem high compared to US prices, especially considering the current exchange rates.

living in the Yukon, next door to Alaska, I am a familiar cross border shopper. I do not hesistate to cross the border to shop.

The reasons I will be buying in Canada are; excellent service and support at Yukon Yamaha, the head bike mechanic is also buying S10, they are offering 36 months toptal warranty, buying in US you will need to change out speedo.

If anyone can confirm this will be the case for the Super Tenere please let me know. I have the owners manual for the UK version and the speedo is switchable from km/h to mph. I'm hoping the NA bikes will be the same.

Awesome! I look forward to riding mine out to Newfoundland in a few years when my inlaws build their retirement cabin in Holyrood. I think Newfoundland would be the perfect place to spend a summer riding the SuperT.

Please post pics of it out there when you get it! There are so many great backdrops.

hey nomosno, I hear Yamaha is really keeping an eye out for shipping bikes to canada, all of the japanese for that matter. a dealer here in WA said he had some calls from Canada, and he told them Yamaha is offering to pull franchise if they hear of this any more. I know it used to be easeier to do this.
