Canadian spec bikes will not switch from km to miles. Euro and USA spec bikes will, and I even went to the expense of buying a USA instrument cluster to get that feature but it still wouldn't switch. I'm guessing it's the ECU but that can't be swapped due to the immobilizer that only Canadian bikes have.

I can switch my UK bike, when travelling in Europe, but frankly I never bother. I use a Garmin SatNav, which can run in KMH or MPH - way more accurate anyway. Yamaha clocks are usually 5-8% fast.

Like others though, it makes no sense to me for Yam to produce Canada only non-switchable KM clocks.......but they do!

When you see that kind of thing, it almost always means that the manufacturer is trying to comply with a Gummint regulation. Some Kanookian reg probably says vehicles delivered in Canada will have speedos in kph and the person reviewing it (could have been company or Gummint) made the interpretation which eliminated the ability to switch to mph.

Okay, makes sense..
So the S10 left Japan in same condition as all other.
And of course, I know this is the case for autos, but did not consider that it if course also happens with motorcycles.o_O

The thing that gets me tho, is that, if i understood correctly, European S10s DO have the ability to toggle from mertic to standard.... Simple solution was to convert my Garmin GPS to mph.... Work with what ya got.
