Hi , I bought a pair of Yamaha panniers from a Yamaha dealer through Ebay uk, they where sold as ex display.
when I came to fit my locks I could not open the the panniers.
I have spoken to a guy at Yamaha Uk who told me that there should be a screw fitted to stop the panniers from closing , Im hopeing that there will be some bright person on here who can tell me how un lock them to fit my locks. Im of to Belgium next week and hope to have them fitted by then as my old throw over panniers have just about had it.

I don't own them, but I think after you insert the key,if you push down on the top of the pannier as you turn the key it will unlock easier. It's finicky, somebody will chime in who owns some and tell ya how it's done.

If there are no lock barrels in the case and they are locked, you might be able to put something in the hole to push the latch over. You want to push it to the right. Try pressing down on the lid while you are doing it. Im curious how they got them locked when there was no lock in them. When they are from the factory there is a set screw in the inside of the case which keeps the latch open. You might just try pulling hard on the lid. If they are down tight they do take a little effort to get open. You will need to set the latch with the screw to place the back part of the lock in the inside. The hole for it is to the top right of the rubber cap looking from the outside rear. Any small screw will do. Oh, other option is to take the bottom of the case off to give you access to the inside of the case. There are four or six screws holding it on and it just pulls off. You can get to the back of the case and push the latch over like stated above.
