Here is a loaded, low mileage 2nd Gen S10 for a mere $1250.00 more than your stated $7500.00 limit. It will not need the valve check for a while and comes with some expensive accessories. I’ve owned both generations and would spring for the 2nd Gen bike.

These bikes seem to vary alot in their value. What's the best way to get a accurate value? I tend to use Nada for a good accurate value.

Sometimes it can be hard to tell if it's a good/bad deal. The price might seem high, but the bike might have a ton of add-ons. Even the brand of add-ons will make a difference. Depending on bags/boxes, and their age/condition, they can easily add $1,000. My Mastech crashbars were $135, but an Altrider set is $600+. You'll can save yourself money, and buyer's remorse, if you investigate the bike, and the goodies on it.

Thank u and yes its easy to drop thousands in add ons. Good quality add ons will definitely add value to the bike.

What's with all the skid plate talk? You'd have to try mighty hard to use the plate this bike came with let alone any of the fancy ones. Most folks on adventure bikes don't even need the crash bars although the crash bars are more likely to be used than the skid plate.

Do you mean the factory plastic thing or the optional Yamaha aluminum one?
IMO, that pastic one is about useless. If you're talking about the optional aluminum one then I agree it will get the job done for most people.

"All the skid plate talk"? It was only mentioned a couple of times, and it wasn't about whether it was needed or not. One bike had one, one didn't, and the conversation was that the skid plate had to be taken into consideration as to the overall cost of the bike. I agree about the average person probably not needing one, myself included. But I knew that I would be scraping the bottom now and again. I've slid over a bunch of curbs, and one or two parking blocks. I can only imagine what my oil pan would look like if I didn't have one.

And crashbars? Sorry, but you're a dumbass if you don't have a set of crashbars on just about any bike. My R6 & FJR kid(s) have Canyon Cages on their bikes that NEVER have seen anything but pavement. My FJ is the only bike that have ridden that hasn't had a set, and that was because I couldn't find one for it. If someone is riding a Tenere without a set, sooner or later you're gonna wish you did.

Cool! That's a good price for a well equipped 2013, IMO.
The LED headlight upgrade was a big improvement over stock on my bike. It looks like they went with the Cyclops LED conversion, which wasn't cheap. Good news is you can now fit a wide variety of LED replacement bulbs if/when those go out.

Being a 2013, you might ask about the wiring recall and if its been done. It wouldn't stop me from buying it (my 2013 still hasn't had it done) but it would be good to know so you can plan to get it done at the end of your riding season.

So, it's mine! I just have to schedule a day to make the 7-hour round trip to go get it (and convince someone to come with me so I can ride home). I'm going to be in Fort Collins in a few weeks for a family event anyway, so that'll probably be the time since work has me travelling in the opposite direction for the next few weeks. Hopefully the snow stays off until after then.

When I talked to the owner he said that he's done all LED lighting/blinkers, the Yamaha panniers also come with the soft bag inserts, Seat concepts seat, full headers and exhaust w/ cat delete, plus all of the stuff you can see in the photos. He's the second owner, had it about 7,000 miles, but wasn't sure about the wiring recall. I'll put up some pictures when it's actually in my possession. Pretty pumped to get it.

No matter which bike you buy have some money set aside to do some maintenance. Even the best used vehicles may need something. If it were me I'd be buying the best bike, lower miles overall condition and worry about accessories afterward. You can always add those but you don't want to buy a bike that hasn't been treated well because it has nice accessories. By low mileage I don't necessarily mean lowest mileage but one that has reasonable mileage for its age. just my 2 cents worth.

Yes, thank you. I am asking all of the general maintenance questions I think of and it all seems to be checking out okay. Sounds like a good, conscientious owner. Getting hands on the bike may tell a different story, but for now, the guy seems to be very forthcoming with any issues.

Good to know! The more I dig into this bike, the more I realize just how well taken care of it has been. I just keep finding little things here and there that the two previous owners have done to make the bike that little bit better, and when taken into account, they all add up to a pretty excellent total.

Brought it home yesterday! Rode about 250 miles to get it home and it was a treat. It has a throttle lock (never had one before) and grip heaters (never had those before either). Already in love with it.View attachment 96271
