Anyone interested in saving a few bucks on some "cosmetically challenged" pannier systems? ::024::

We currently have two 40L Defender pannier systems in black for the Super Tenere that incurred minor damage during shipping from Bulgaria. Not sure if they got the raw end of the deal when the pallet was loaded into the plane, but there are very shallow depressions/dings where the latch body is bolted to the pannier body. As the latch is the highest point on the side of the case, if the freight guys get a little careless, this is typically where it's going to be damaged.

These cases are fully functionally and with a block of wood, a rubber mallet, and about 5 minutes of your time, you can probably get 95% of the ding out of the sidewall of the case. Those that have stopped by the shop and seen firsthand my definition of "scratch and dent" usually laugh out loud, as I am overcritical to a fault - if it's not perfect, it's not going out the door, or at least without a sizable discount. Please note - these are a final sale item, so if you are bothered by small imperfections irrespective of savings, these might not be for you.

The full Defender system for the Super Tenere (racks and panniers) would normally run you $1,079.99 plus $119 Lower 48 USA shipping for a total of $1,198.99. For the dinged cases, I'll take $200 off the shipped total, getting them down to $998.99 shipped to the lower 48 USA. If you're in Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, or Mexico, I'll also pro-rate a shipping discount if interested.

Sample pictures of the "damage" are below (I've tried to pick the two worst ones to show). You'll see a very small outline of the latch body on the inside of the pannier where the powdercoating was stressed, and I've tried to show the depth of the ding by holding a straight piece of cardstock next to the outside wall.

Any questions, please feel to call the shop at (585) 310-ADVM or email me.

Thanks!

Hi all! Hope everyone is getting ready to enjoy their holidays!

We're excited to announce that BUMOT has implemented a global discount of 10% off any BUMOT pannier systems, parts, and accessories! As many of you know, we put our best price on the site and keep it consistent throughout the year...sales are about as rare as hen's teeth. If you've been on the fence about adding some accessories or upgrading your luggage system to the adventure-grade BUMOT Defenders or Xtremadas, now would be the time! The discount applies to both in-stock and pre-order products and is valid on sales through 11:59PM ET on 26-December. As is standard for these types of promotions, unfortunately, prior sales are excluded.

So, how do you go about getting this "Holiday Miracle" discount? :D

1 - Log in or create an account at www.advmotorrad.com
2 - Add all the BUMOT items you're interested in to your shopping cart
3 - Click the "Shopping Cart" icon in the top right of your screen to view the cart
4 - Scroll down to "What would you like to do next?" and click on the "Use Coupon Code" button
5 - Enter BUMOT10 (all caps) into the coupon code field and click "Apply Coupon"
6 - Confirm coupon has been applied off the total at the bottom right of the screen
7 - Crack open your favorite beverage and celebrate!

The discount is good for all BUMOT parts, so if you add items from other manufacturers we support, those will still be at the normal price (although you will save via combined shipping).

Any questions, please let me know!

Hi all - hope everyone had a great Christmas and the dude in the red suit brought you and your Tenere lots of cool stuff! ::016::

We're roughly 17 hours away from the end of the BUMOT holiday sale today (26-Dec). If you've been considering a new Defender aluminum or Xtremada soft pannier system, or adding accessories to an existing system, it's a great way to save a few bucks. It's going to be a busy day getting orders packed and shipped - a lot of you can apparently recognize a killer deal when you see one :lol3 - but if you have any questions prior to placing an order, feel free to email or call the shop at (585) 310-ADVM between 10A-5P ET.

Thanks!

Hi MonstrDude64 - the Xtremada panniers weigh just over 9 pounds each, so roughly a 3.5-4 pound saving from the Defender aluminum pannier.

Thanks!

Hi Jason,

What is the width of the Extremadas installed on a Super Tenere? Thanks.
Hey twinrider - a lot will depend on how much stuff you have in them, as they will be slightly narrower when they're not jammed full. That said, nominal floor width is about 8"-ish when stretched, which would put an overall system width right around 34"....well within the stock handlebars. :D

We have both Super Tenere pannier racks and Xtremada soft panniers in stock and ready to ship if interested!

(Not sure why images are pooched, but you can click the links above for pics)

Thanks...

Weird, when I clicked modify, your BBCode is correct, but didn't post the images. When I quoted your post, and clicked preview, the images showed up...

Thanks AVGeek! Yeah, I usually haven't had an issue with posting pics previously, but maybe I goofed something up. Appreciate the help getting the images to show in your post!

Well, the freight monkeys were at it again and dinged one of the systems from the last shipment. Bummer for us, but big savings for you!

This one is a Defender 45L XTZ1200Z pannier system in Frozen Gray. The 45L pannier picked up a small ding in the case floor in transit (shown in pics below), but the 41L case is perfect and untouched. This is a cosmetic flaw only and there is no impact to functionality whatsoever. Save $120 off the system and pick these up for $1,079.99!

The wait is over...we are thrilled to announce the official release and immediate availability of the new BUMOT Defender EVO pannier systems and top cases in the US!

The new for 2019 Defender EVO series is the next evolution in aluminum luggage and will join the existing Defender series as a new option. Shared features between both series are:
  • 2mm aluminum construction, with strengthening flanges at the pannier opening
  • Full powdercoating inside and out at no additional cost
  • Stainless steel latches and quick release hardware
  • Key locks for the latches and quick release, with the ability to match keys to future BUMOT luggage purchases
  • Zinc passivated friction hinges which keep the lid in place when you let go (no slamming open or closed)
  • Heavy duty perimeter weatherstripping seal for waterproofness
  • Same heavy duty BUMOT pannier racks, with the ability to add the BUMOT rack-mounted toolbox
The new Defender EVO series offers:
  • A flanged and fully welded case floor
  • Low profile polyamide nylon lid strap brackets integrated into the corner guards for a more streamlined look with no loss of functionality
  • Beveled corners at the sides to visually minimize the size of the cases on the bike, with a rounded profile on the lid and lower edges
  • A new embossed outer panel with the BUMOT logo
  • An optional bare (uncoated) aluminum finish option instead of powdercoat (special order only)
We are excited to be able to offer both the Defender and Defender EVO systems to ADV Motorrad customers. We currently have limited stock of the new EVOs on hand in New York, and will be adding more inventory of applications, sizes, and colors in the coming months. If there is a specific system you're looking for that shows currently as out of stock (or "Pre-Order" status), feel free to call the shop at (585) 310-ADVM and we'll be happy to check ETA.

Enough with the words...on to the pics!

I've got Bumots. The only drawback is the rear rack is too small when not using the top case
Thanks Tenman! Yeah, the top case mount is really designed just for that...there's basically no more surface area than the stock rack when you're not using it with a top case.

Hope you are enjoying your system!

With the introduction of the new EVO series, we're excited to have two different systems to offer Super Tenere riders - the standard Defenders for those that want all the features and strength of a proven BUMOT design at a lower price point, and the new Defender EVOs which bring a great new aesthetic design to the BUMOT line-up.

That said, our warehouse didn't double in size, and so we need to make some space for the next inbound shipment of both Defender and Defender EVO systems. To help make room on the shelf, we're offering a YamahaSuperTenere.com forum special discount of $100 off any in-stock standard Defender (non-EVO) pannier system through February 28th (or earlier, if current stock sells out). We have stock right now of 45L systems in all three colors (black, Frozen Gray, and silver), as well as stock of the 40L systems in black and silver. As always, pannier systems ship for free in the Lower 48 USA!

To take advantage of this deal, just add the system to your cart, click the "Shopping Cart" icon, and enter coupon code YSTFORUM. You'll see the $100 discount applied to your Super Tenere Defender system, and once the order is completed, it will ship out same or next business day.

Any questions, please feel free to call the shop at (585) 310-ADVM or send an email.

Thanks!

Jason

Might be great timing for me. I'm close to deciding. Wondering if black is all that much warmer under hot Summer sun? Was thinking frozen gray, although black would blend better with the bike (2018). Alternatively- how hard would it be to paint the tops with a rattle can, wondering if I am a good enough painter to make it look nice. Am I correct, the silver listed means no coating at all, giving black rub marks on my gear? Not wild about going wider, prefer the 40 liter to the 45 liter set. Am I reading right that the Evo is $100 bucks more then the original? Making this deal $200 better then Evos?
