My very first impression of new BSA motorcycles was around 1970 or so when my dad and I stopped at the local Honda/BSA dealership.
I saw a row of new BSAs on the showroom floor and every one of them had a cookie pan underneath the engine to catch the dripping oil leaks.
Also when they were new? Wow. I still have stainless pans under every English and French bike. Never one under a Japanese or German bike.
