Guys,
It's almost time for a new set of tires on my S10. I was thinking of installing the Bridgestone AX41S, but I can't seem to find a OEM size 150/70x17 for the rear. Most of the shops offers/carries 160/60x17. I'm not sure if this tire will fit the S10 or not...anyone have one on their bike? Last I remember, I didn't think there was much room on the right side even with the OEM 150/70x17 size. I would appreciate your feedback! Thanks in advance...

I am running the A41s, which DO come in OE sizes. Don't know about the "X"s. I'm liking the "regular" ones, FWIW.

Sierra 1,

Thanks ... I will check those AX41s out since I seriously doubt a 160s would fit (maybe barely) the bike.

The AX41S is apparently designed for the current Scrambler type bikes, thus available in their unique sizes. Those are lighter bikes. Sometimes as much as 200 lbs lighter. I don't think I'd try those tires on my Super Ten.

The load index on the AX41S front tires are 520lbs - 551lbs and the rear 716lbs - 814lbs. I don't think there is anyone on earth that is rolling a Super Tenere over 1236lbs.

Even the stock Battlewings are "only" rated for 536lbs front and 716lbs rear for a total of 1252lbs.

The Scrambler Tires are more than sufficient for our Super Tenere's loaded to the max.

Load ratings don't tell the whole story. Sidewall thickness and how they actually handle/wear are also parts of that package. If you want to try some, go for it. As I already said, they are designed for Scramblers and offered in those sizes. If you were looking at the specs, you should have spent more time looking and you would have noticed that they are not offered in Super Ten sizes.

Bridgestone Web Site

Likely on the heavier bike, the rider will experience a lot of cupping in the front with that tread design, but we'll only find out for sure if someone decides to run the odd sizes.

I did spend the time and looked. They are made in the Super Tenere sizes. Just a bit smaller in the rear. Load ratings are the bottom line when it comes to how much weight the tire can handle. All tires wear and handle differently. That's a given. That has nothing to do with the load rating.

You apparently aren't understanding what's meant by sizes. Are there 17" and 19" diameter versions? Yes. Are there the actual correct sizes that are specified for the Super Tenere? No. Which is why I mentioned above that if someone decides to run the odd sizes.

Once again, you really don't understand the conversation.

The OP wanted to know if a non standard size will fit. The answer is yes.

Actually, he asked: "anyone have one on their bike?"

You don't. Don't answer questions when you don't really know the answer. Offer your opinion all you want.

Again, reading comprehension is important. I love your posts when you share first hand direct experience with a product or your experience with the Super Tenere doing something. It's annoying when you give poor info or outright wrong info and present it as factual.

Read the post, don't read into the post. That's not just about tone. It's about assuming someone wanted other info when they asked a specific question.

The AX41S tires come in sizes that could be spooned on the Super Ten's wheels. Clearance is unknown until someone tries those sizes and reports back.

"S", I haven't even seen an AX41S. Mine is just an AX41.
Hi there Don, here is a fantastic review of your tire. It might help the OP decide. This guy is a solid reviewer of tires. The areas he rides in are local to me. I would pick your tire any day of the week for all riding conditions from pavement to dirt. I figure to burn through at least a few rears on what I'm rolling on. I too have a fantastic touring tire similar to yours. Go big block or go home!!

That is a review of the AX41 Adventurecross, not the AX41S Adventurecross Scrambler. Completely different tread design and tire.

Yep, I made the mistake of not picking up on the "S" version in the OP. Chris was just expanding on my not 'seeing' the "S". I'm afraid I don't even look at tires that aren't the right size. I wouldn't have even started thinking about it what with the huge number of tires that we do have, with more coming all the time.

We got two things going Chris. I have the AX41. I like it. The OP wants to mount the wrong tire on his bike, the one with an "S" in the name, AX41"S". My brain didn't click on the S when I read the OP. Why a manufacturer would make two completely different tire models with essentially the same 'name' is beyond me.
