Back to the shinkos I go. Seems like that's every other set I put on. Guess I should just stick with them. Can't help but try something different.
Same here. The rear AX41 went before 4K miles and the front was cupped badly before 6K. The Bridgestone is a loud mutha too!!!

After a few rides on the shinkos I don't know why I don't run these all the time. Except for the rear lossing some grip in the turns on dirt, these are I think the all around best tire out there for big adv's.

Have any of you guys thought to try out the Michelin Wild Anakees? Mine are so far so good. OTOH, I'm not putting on near the miles some of you are. I need to get out and ride this bike more!!

This Labor Day weekend trip finished off my Ax41 I got just over 4000 miles out of it.
Rear only
Good:
Excellent off road traction:
Very predictable on road handling. Never felt it slip or do anything unpleasant on the road. I never got the opportunity to ride this tire in the wet.
Price: I bought when there was a good rebate, made them cheap.

Bad:

Noise: they are noise makers.
Ride on road: have a definitive knobby ride on pavement.
Wear: on the interstate you can almost feel it melting under you. I was wondering if I was going to have to find a new tire in the middle of my ride home.

Price: without the rebate there are tires that are as good if not better and cheaper.

Conclusion:

I liked the Kenda Big block as it has all the traction off road and wears better on road. I have another brand new Ax41 because I bought two with the rebate.

Just wanted to come back and report on my second Bridgestone adventurecross AX41. Currently have 3200 miles on this tire. If ridden purely on the road it looks like it has about another 1000 miles on it. As far as traction off road it is way past done.

Pavement miles are not kind to this tire. If you are doing mainly off road, this tire could be a good choice. Any extended cross country trips that are mostly dirt road, this would be a good choice.

On road. it just doesn't have enough life for me. Taking this tire on a 4000 mile trip, I would be worried and wondering if it would get me home.

They had a good price on these with the rebate when I bought mine. I will not be buying these again.
