I just saw this posted on another forum that I frequent.

Effective Immediately
There is a Stop Ride and Stop Sale in effect for all R 1200 RT (K52) motorcycles with Dynamic ESA (options 191 or 233).

All customers who own or ride the above motorcycle must also be informed immediately!
Please use every means of communication possible (telephone, email etc.) to ensure affected customers are informed as quickly as possible.
At this time, BMW cannot guarantee that the plunger rod assembly for the rear suspension unit will not fail.

BMW Motorrad is currently working on a solution as a matter of urgency.

........
Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.

We apologize for any inconvenience to you and our mutual customers.

BMW Motorrad USA

Edited to add that this is only for the 2014 model

Did the suppliers swap to a cheaper source?
Who makes the suspension?
Or did BMW's testing just involve running up and down the freeway in front of photographers.?

BMW's testing over the last 10 or 15 years consists of charging their customers prime prices for $h!t products and letting said customers do BMW's research and development. and the amazing thing is that they (BMW) keep getting away with it. As the wise saying goes "There is one born every minute".

The headlight harness recall letter from Yamaha, actually said, "do not ride the bike" until corrected.

Not saying I didn't & not saying I would ride a BMW with that problem...suspension & lighting not really equivalent but even minor recalls come with a don't ride warning.

yep, my dealer called me about the harness recall. 1.5 years after I fixed it myself.
