Trail stickers for the National Forest ......

Probably a good idea if you want a taste of trail - it's $25 vs a $250 fine. Also Custer State park, to the SE of Custer (town) will also require an entrance/sticker/fee. Trail riding will be done in the Nat'l Forest lands. Fun and scenic winding asphalt roads are to be had in the State Park - both are equally worth checking out

If they dont warranty the "broken" part and you need this one let me know... So you can make the event... low coolant is probably why you witnessed the temp spike. These bike have temp protection, if it gets to hot it just turns off, dead in the water until it cools off......

(For everyone) I suggest everyone carry some QWIK JB weld and the normal 'original' JB weld with you at all times.... Especially out on road trips away from home and the office. It could literally save your butt. Water pump, oil pan, bags, Etc.... I was in Monument Valley, UT once. The buddy I was riding with had some major wipe out behind me and had a total yard-sale in the middle of the smooth dirt road. His stock Yamaha bag exploded and turned into a TACO. We strapped it all back up to his bike and that night we took the whole bag/ box apart and JB welded it totally all back together. It was "good as new" the next morning. He actually used that same bag for several years until he sold the bike.... LOL
How do you carry this on your bike to keep it from puncturing the tube and making a mess?

The easiest way is to find a small plastic container of virtually any type. I like a old school split top plastic bar soap box. Like a camping soap box. I throw a rubber band around it and then toss it my jacket / tank bag / pannier/ Etc. When you need it, you need it. I like quick and normal. Quick is not as strong as ‘normal’ original but it will get you going in 10 minutes. Original is basically 24 hours. Throughout life , JB weld has saved my ass about 6251.5 times. I’ve helped 2-3 riders before with it in the past. It definitely has its ‘place’ as far as a “ bonding agent “, but for what we are talking about with bikes to get you out of a temporary bind, it works great.

Where to pick up NF - OHV stickers??? That was an interesting question that took a couple of phone calls....

Apparently OHV stickers can be purchased at the gas station at Lynn's Dakota Mart. This is the only grocery store in Custer. Around the side of the store they also have a couple of gas pumps and a small "gas station" - this is where you can get your stickers.

We patched an oil pan with JB Stick weld on the NMBDR, used alcohol wipes from our first aid kit and some of my friend's 100 proof brandy to clean off the oil. Now I carry one of those small cans of throttle body spray cleaner for the job. It can also be used to seat the bead on a tire.

I will be there to lead rides as well. Will have my T7 and well as my S10. Looking to do a mix of asphalt, gravel and two track. This may be an good time for those that do little or no "offroading" to get your feet wet while riding with more experienced offroaders . We can make plans for those that have no skid plate wanting to ride off pavement. The S10 oil pan is not well protected from the errant bump on a rock. My ideas would be for more moderate skill level but can alter the plan accordingly. I will be riding 2 up on Saturday so that may be a good day to catch me being less technical.

If you ride with me you just may get a bit of a history lesson and/or visit a cemetery or two. I will be using a Sena 50s. if you have a compatible com unit, that can make life easier, or more annoying depending on your point of reference.

I will probably be there Thursday afternoon or Friday morning early.

One thing to remember. The asphalt roads are amazing in the area with one exception... they are very busy this time of year. People move very slow and will even stop dead in the road in front of you, sometimes to take a photo or for seemingly no reason at all. Passing zones can be few and far between at times and when you do there, the chance that someone coming the other way is inevitable. Be patient, be courteous and please be very aware. There are a few nice stretches of asphalt that gets less traffic and can sometimes have some fun on those roads. Ask a local to point you in the direction of less traveled black top.

LOL... Fortunately for us, all of ours are custom built for each customers needs & each takes several weeks to produce. Where other manufactures build hundreds, hot off the press we build just a few custom hand made units... We don't have them just sitting around... Shoot, I would have to bring a trailer to bring a few skid plates... LOL

So, after following this thread. . . . I've come to the realization. . . . I should have made this trip. It was my understanding that everybody was riding their Teneres to the rally. Apparently, that's not the case. I, being a candy ass, knew that I couldn't ride it there. . . . but, I also know that I can trailer it very easily behind my Jeep. So, if there's another one, count me in.
