Pay no attention to the childish schoolyard Meme posted. I have ridden the Black Hills and know how quick the terrain can change. Houdek Loam found in the Midwest is no joke.I was thinking of shinko 804/805s but id have ti waste an entire set of bws that i cannot remount (not a single installer in 100 miles will install used tires, so once they are off i cannot remount and they are *new*.
I am right there with you. I am planning on pavement riding. Maybe a super easy and super slow gravel road to get to something cool to see on my stock tires. My son will be there with me on a Honda NC700D. He has no off pavement experience. I have approximately 50 miles more than that. My buddy will be with us on his 1200GS. Although he has some gravel riding experience, he has told me that he has very little interest in it. So don't worry about riding solo, there will be 3 of us that you can ride with.Looking forward to this trip and i have a question:
What riding will we do?
I am really torn about tires. I am a novice level off road rider so i would like to avoid anything requiring knobbies.
If the group wants to do more challenging stuff i will happily to explore solo. I dont want to hold anyone back.

I'll be leaving from Mankato, MN area, could catch ya on 1-90I just saw this, I'm tempted to come. Anyone plan on riding from around Chicago?
Sounds great. I do a lot of logging roads now on the battlewings and have had traction issues as i keep my speeds conservativethe black hills has plenty of asphalt, run your street tires and roll 60 MPH........
I will be doing the same when the wife rides, but I will also take a day and hit the dirt. If you have a 80/20 tire you can ride dirt roads. Just slow down a bit and remember rain changes the game.
