We need to start a Garmin XT thread ! LOL:D

How am I able to see my text pop up on the screen ? I hear my phone "beep / text" me but I dont see anything on my screen and can't see to play the text back to me... Could you direct me or PM me on how to do this ? THANK YOU
You have to turn on the notifications on the XT in settings. I actually shut mine off as it was a bit to much to be watching while riding down the highway.

I have a Sena 50s. Used to have the Cardo Packtalk. The XT is great. With the 50s and Cardo
I had a Sena 50S when I started this Black Hills trip. After day one's torrential downpour it quit working. From past experiene we always travel with backup headsets, so used a S20 for the rest of the trip.

Now that I've contacted Sena for my 50S about the failure, they've informed me they are not waterproof and should only be used in light rain. o_O I replied to that email and waiting for my next communication from them.

As a user of most major models of the Zumo over the last 15 years, I can say it is actually daylight readable, not just a claim, this time it's true. The XT is the Zumo we've all been waiting for but was never delivered. It answers most of my complaints that have built over the years. No more being unable to know where the hell you are because you zoomed out just a tiny amount. You see the small roads now.

You got me! It just works. The answer about notifications sounds good. Some people say there's an order to what you turn on first. I start the bike, then turn on Sena/Cardo. Sorry I'm not more help.

I should clarify. I've had the Cardo/XT combo in torrential rain for a couple of hours. Not the Sena 50s/XT. I think the build of the 50r is a much better solution for water than the 50s. But the 50s is much easier to use with multiple helmets. Just buy extra mounts and snap away. Very much like Cardo.

Hey @patrickg450 , as a complete dummy to GPS (just got a 396LMT a couple months ago and do battle with it regularly) would you simply (please) explain what GAIA is and why you are moving to it? Thanks!

Gaia GPS is a smart phone navigation app. I personally use OSMand+ on my Samsung Note 8. You can download maps so internet connection is not required while riding. I do have an old old Zumo 595 permanently mounted too, but only use it for general orientation and immediate route tracing. Any route planning and recording is on the mounted phone.

I do love the Relive app too for 3d route recording with integrated photos, but I'm too cheap at $40/year.

I've been using OSMand+ too but am going to look closer at the GAIA app. I like having the selection of different maps and it looks like it may route better.

what he said......

I am pissed at GARMIN, sorry Jax. You finally got one and now there is a MASS EXODUS to dump them. I have the free app (GAIA) on my android, I like it so far. I need to get the better maps so it will be easier to see........

The "dad" of the 700 duo had a tablet and used it as well. Naturally I forgot his name already.

Don't worry Jax.... I was definitely on the dump Garmin kick. Really fed up with the over prices, under featured Zumo units that had me pretty disgusted. A buddy's non-stop praise of the XT got me to get one. Glad I did. The XT is a whole new game for Garmin. Won't say good things about Garmin because of all the damage they did to their reputation from all the sub-featured, premium priced Zumo units they sold us over the years. The fatigue of being a captive audience definitely set in, but I will say the XT bought them one last chance.

Don't f$%# it up, Garmin.
