hi all I am currently in Thailand an idea place to get excellent quality billet parts made I have a friend here who has a workshop 3 axis CNC and he wants to copy my plastic YAMAHA rack billet and anodize, would anyone be interested in a billet rack same design as standard but I am hoping to fit two helmet locks and bungee hooks, about 20 are needed to make it cost effective each piece will be approximately £350-400+post but may possibly be cheaper more the better obviously this will never break on any fall and last a life time. Please feel free to comment to make this work any ideas? many thanks

In view of the number of after market racks already out there, at $400-$500 US, I doubt you will get many takers.

based on other posts here over the last year, I think you may get interest in a Pillion seat rack

As usual, these are MY opinions and they are always subject to reality checks

Not trying to put a damper on things but i dont see the point of this. Unless the stock rack has an inbuilt weakness. Considering the stock boxes are plastic they have a design strength which this will not improve. I have metal boxes on mine and the rack is bolted into the bike with no plastic to fail. The reason i did this was because i leave my topbox in place all the time because its so much easier to move the bike around and i know my set up is strong enough to do this. The plastic boxes would not give me the confidence to do this. If i missed the point of this i stand to be corrected.

The point of the rack is simple if on the standard boxes you have an off the plastic rack that holds the top box on breaks as this is the plastic part not the box, once broken they are very difficult to come by, I am in negotiations to try and get the price down as low as possible, in the design I want to have possibly helmet locks and fastening eyes in the design, its not about making money but making these bikes more durable, many thanks
