Big block vs small

Hello all can anybody please explain the advantage and advantage of having big block knobby tire like a Karoo 3 over a knobby tire Anakee wild

Karoo 3 is more suitable for asphalt, since the checker has a large contact area with the surface. Wild has a smaller checker and is intended for dirt roads. Wild wears out after 8 thousand km and is very noisy on the asphalt.
