Just got back from Big Bend. All I can say is my S10 is bad ass. Loved how it handled even the toughest terrain. Ran into some guys on smaller KTMs and BMW and they were impressed. Here are some pics from my trip.

One of my favorite destinations with so many fantastic places to just sit and enjoy the beauty, the quiet and heat. Peyote if you know where to look ::013::

Been fortunate to ride in many places on this planet. And I can't completely explain it, but Big Bend is one of my favorite places. In some way THE favorite.
Even if I'm in a truck, it's just magic.

If I chose to go all hermit on my family, it would be Big Bend.

AMEN to that Snakebitten. Don't know what it is about that place. Even I can't take a bad photo down there. Am headed back this January and I cannot wait.

For everyone that loves riding big bend why dont we get together for Uncles around the bend Adventure challenge in March? I did it this year (desert and adventure challenge) and it was awesome.

88, you did the desert challenge on the Beast?
Hmmmmm, you got a bigger appetite than me. :-X

The Adventure challenge was new this year, right? I didn't make Uncles weekend this year, but had a blast the year before. So can you describe the difference in difficulty between the two challenges?

Thanks
Bruce

I should clarify. I did both rides but on 2 bikes. Tenere for Adventure challenge, WR450F for Desert Challenge. My opinion is that the desert challenge is too easy on a real dirtbike and would be difficult but doable on a Tenere. The only hard part are the several sandy sections, but they made up a very small part (~2 miles over 20 sections) of the total ride (~80 miles).

The Adventure Challenge was new, and it was fun, nothing too challenging.

Next year i'd like to sign up for just 1 of the planned rides and ride into Mexico the other day. Who's in!!!

Nice pics. I'd sure like to run that route. Had several invites but employment keeps from from spending time there. Like others have stated, "So many roads, so little time..."

Just as an FYI to all, I ran two routes on or near Big Bend. The first was Pinto Canyon Road which is actually not in the park. It is about 40 miles NW of Presidio, TX. The road starts at Ruidosa, TX (very small town on Hwy 170). The next day I did River Road West and then River Road East. These were very chanllenging with lots of dry creek crossings with lots of sand and loose gravel. I used the TC 2 and TC Off setting to make it through this stuff.

Without a doubt, I want to go back to Big Bend and spend more time exploring this wonderful and remote park. I'd also like to make it to Marfa and to the observatory nearby.

Thanks for all the comments.
