Eric- Can the Rigid sr 6" be mounted under the headlights with Runbux bar in place? I was going to notch the OE supports to mount the light bar but just realized I have your Rumbux bar set up....

If you don,t want to put another set of lights on and want to make it easy , with great lighting try Cyclops ADV sports LED,s . plug and play H7 LED,s with fan built on them . They go in place of your bulb in the same housing . I think they work great ... They stay cool and are 3200 lumen .

Hi anyone has a picture of the Baja Squadron Sport, Adventure Bike LED Light Kit installed on the SuperT? I'm in the market for those but would like to have impressions if anyone has them installed.
grazie

Wow - That's a great light that fits like it was made for the bike and what a great price!

BD Squadrons were a popular early mod, so there should be pictures in the older threads in the lighting section (and elsewhere). I didn't know they had created an Adventure Bike kit recently...

I have the OnX bar (same optics as the Squadrons, just in a bar, rather than a square) mounted up under my stock headlights. I rarely use it (I also have 10W LED spots on my handlebars) as it throws so much light down the road!

You have lights mounted on the handlebars ? Wow I never would have thought there would be enough room there for lights, I'd love to see how you did it.

I bought a pair of ADVMonster Model 55's a little while ago, and they weren't great. There was too much light directly in front of the bike, the mounting brackets are cheesy, the 'seal' for the wire going into the body of the light is a blob of silicone goo that is poorly applied, and one of the two leaked the first time it was rained on. They replaced it promptly, and the replacement leaked the first time it was rained on. After me complaining on ADV for a while into the typical onslaught of people who know better than you do despite having no actual knowledge or experience with the lights, ADVMonster finally offered me a refund, which I took.

I now have a set of VisionX 3.7" LEDs on the way (these are the exact same lights as the Cyclops model, for $20 cheaper), and will post up info when I get 'em.

I'm considering getting the Baja Designs Onx light bar, I already have the PIAA lp530 fog lights mounted to my Altrider engine bars to bolster the low beams, so I'd wire the Onx light bar to come on at 100% with the high beams but be off the rest of the time. However, I've never had such powerful auxiliary lighting before, and the more I think about it, the more I wonder whether it's counter productive? By this I mean, surely your eyes would adapt to the super bright light of the Onx while the high beams are on, so then when you switch to the low beams to avoid blinding oncoming traffic, everything would seem very dark, because your eyes are not ready for such a dramatic drop in lighting? Also, there would surely be the issue of you blinding yourself with the reflection of the Onx in road signs when it's on?

Of course, I haven't tried it yet, and this is all theoretical worrying. I'd be interested to hear from someone who does have such powerful lighting fitted as to whether I'm right to worry or not...?

I went with the Clearwater Ericas mounted within my Altrider crash bars. They are on a dimmer (5-55%), toggle on and off, and 100% on highbeam and when you hit the horn. 12,000 lumens and lifetime warranty. I get a little bummed when I have to go to lowbeam at night because they light up the night. "Anotherbiker", you got me thinking about my eyes having to adjust.

Anotherbiker, it can be an issue dropping from a million lumens down to a couple of candle power when you pass traffic. It does appear to go pretty dark for a second or so.

However, the advantages of better lighting when out in the sticks through the night outweigh that. Where I ride animal strike is a constant concern, and I would not be without extra lighting.

What I do to cope with frequent oncoming cars is to have 2 groups of lights on 2 switches so I can have very good lights when constantly flipping between high and low beam, but when the roads have less cars I can have excellent lights - usually both groups at once.

Reflection from modern road signs can be very, very bright. Just look away. Or rather, look just away.

Don't look at the sun Jimmy.

THIS should be a link to my post from June of last year about it...basically, I have TABASCO's handlebar brackets, and mounted up 10W LEDs I got from Lazer Star lighting.

Interesting to hear that going from lots of light to not much light when you dip your headlights is a real issue, and not just me worrying unnecessarily. The Baja Designs harness I'm looking at has a switch that lets you toggle between 50% and 100%, so I guess I would set it to 50% when I'm in traffic and dipping the lights a lot, then 100% when I'm in a middle of nowhere.

It also has a strobe mode apparently, and I can't for the life of me figure out why you'd use that? I guess to alert other traffic to your presence, but in the sort of emergency situation that would warrant doing that, I doubt I'd have enough time/presence of mind to reach to where I mounted the switch and turn the strobe mode on!

The dipping issue is due your eyes, not the lights. Pupils react at different rates in all of us, but generally may decrease in reaction with age.

Just like the reflection from the shiny road signs, I find that if I look away from the oncoming car then it is better.

For me it is not a real issue because I never drop from a million Lm to a candle. I use multiple lights instead.

Maybe you can try that 50% thing. Here in Oz that would be illegal.

Question on the LP530 grills....

Has anyone cut out the "PIAA" letters from the grill? Wondering how much light they block and really don't like being a rolling billboard.

I know that is the older harness for BD lights, as I had one of the first ST kits they offered, and that was the harness available at the time. These days, they use the Skene controller which gives greater flexibility on the light levels.

Clearwaters for sure, but if dont want to spend that much money I totally recommend ADVMONSTER.com (thats what I have)

It helps a lot at daytime when splitting lanes on L.A. freeways. At night is extremely bright!

Next step for me will be addind a modulate.

Here is the setup I have. I love the baja design light bar. I use the strobe function when group riding on dusty dirt roads so oncoming traffic sees me. I gutted about 3/4 of their harness and made my own with connectors from eastern beaver and switches from highway dirtbikes. The piaa lights are great, and i see no difference with the covers on or off. I have hit some jumps hard enough to shake them off as they are really just for looks in my opinion. One other thing, I machined all the hardware that the lights are mounted to so buying this setup is really not available. I did make extra mounts for the baja design bar that you will need if you run the upper altrider crashbar.
