Battery Died

I went out today. The bike started fine. I stopped for a few minutes after about 15 mins of riding. Bike started fine again. I then stopped again after about 10 minutes. After a 15 min stop I switched it on and pressed the starter and everything went out. After fiddling around I called a tow truck. At home I checked around and then jump started the bike without a problem. A soon as I took the cables of it died. I took the battery out and started it with the battery from my little 125 Honda. My question is will a Yuasa YTZ S AGM battery work? I am worried about putting in the wrong battery as it fits in sideways.
Thanks in advance for your help.
The bike is 2014 with 119,000 kms. It’s

Whilst the battery may have done it's time, falling over in such a sudden manner seems unusual, so do check out the connections as WJB says.
I am also wondering about a reg/rec or an alternator charging problem that has discharged the battery progressively during your ride .

What voltage shows on multi-meter readings with your Honda battery connected, both at the battery terminals & the reg/rec AC?

It shows 14.2 with Honda battery. I ordered a new battery. A YTZ14S is difficult to find in Mexico so went with the 12S. Hopefully the new one will out last the original.

Easy fix and a lot of us have done it.
As I mentioned living in Mexico things are not always easy to find. I couldn’t find a yTX14S so went with the 12S. Hopefully it will arrive in a few days although I am in no hurry as I rarely use the bike now. Um that could have been the problem.
Like most people I need this pandemic to go away. It has already ruined a trip to the USA and is now stopping me from my regular ride outs.

I had nearly the exact same thing happen to my battery two weeks ago. The bike (2015 Tenere) started fine for my morning ride. Did a quick gas stop, again started fine. When I did a stop for about 30 minutes about 40 miles from home, it was completely dead...not even dash lights. I carry a power pack with me so I was able to do a jump start on the spot. The same thing happened when I disconnected and the engine would die and all dash lights went out. I did this several times and each time the bike would not run once the power pack was disconnected. So tow truck it was. :(
I spoke with a Yuasa rep a few years back and told him that I would only get two years use out of their batteries. He said I should get double that. He recommended that I always put the battery on a battery tender when not riding. They were interested enough in my problem that they sent me a complementary battery (nice). I followed Yuasa's instructions to the letter and always connected the battery to the (Yuasa) tender after every ride.
I installed a new YTZ12S battery last week and other than an error code problem that Squibb helped me with all is good.
I checked my maintenance records and my free battery had been installed 2 years, 4 months ago. Maybe it's our Florida heat that kills them or my electric add on farkles but from now on I'm changing mine out every two years as regular maintenance. -JEP-

I'm wondering if maybe Yuasa's quality is slipping also. The ST1300 had an Odyssey battery as OE. It lasted three years. It was replaced with a Yausa. It too was kept on a 'Tender, but only lasted one year. Now, it did have a heavy electrical load, but I expected better than a year.

It looks like the new battery will arrive tomorrow. No really hurry but it will be good to have it running again even if I can't really ride anywhere. I normally put it on a charger when I don't use it but I have a mate's Harley rig on it at the moment.

Batteries are strange sometimes. I had a truck battery make it 14 years and was still starting the thing. I just changed it because it was turning over slow. Had a 4 wheeler battery make it 12 years with the kids leaving the key on all the time. I have had other batteries only make it a year. I guess they are like that box of chocolates.

Yea, can't be predicted. Mostly relatively new batteries will suddenly die, where old tired batteries seldom suddenly die, but get weaker and weaker until too weak to do reliable starting. It seems the YTZ series is not a real long lasting design. I get 3yrs give or take on the YTZ. My 2008 Goldwing Yuasa is still original and works fine at 12yr old. Had a Motorcraft Ford truck battery last one day and 11 miles one time.

New battery installed. The old me read 10.6 this morning. The new one marks 14.4 with engine running. Started quickly. Everything is back to normal.
Now I just need to wait to be able to ride again. 57F93B13-2CEC-492F-A225-21A1052324AB.jpeg4FBE2AD9-ECDF-4BF8-B7B1-8E26D60112D6.jpeg

I am still on the original Yuasa that I bought my 2014 with. On a Colorado trip in 2018 I needed to jump it twice with the battery pack and decided to replace it with a 14-series Yuasa in 2019 for another long trip. That battery lasted only for that trip and died very suddenly afterwards. Fortunately Amazon refunded the cost of the battery. I then put the old one back in, and leave it on the charger all the time now. A little anemic but it works. I hate that battery quality seems to be a real crap shoot

A year ago I went to amazon to price A 14s before going to my local shop to get one. Amazon had an off brand 14 for $40 and free shipping. I thought if it lasts 2 years I am ahead and ordered it

Now a year later, rode the Tenéré today for first time in over two weeks. No tender and it started fine.
