ADV Motorrad is excited to announce we now a dealer for Baja Designs lights and lighting kits! For those unfamiliar with "The Scientists of Lighting", here's some background on BD.

For 20+ years, Baja Designs has engineered revolutionary ways to stay at the forefront of motorcycle and automotive lighting. The first product developed was a dual sport kit that made a pure off-road motorcycle minimally street legal. This intimate knowledge of motorcycle electrical capabilities led to a natural evolution to engineer the first HID motorcycle race light. Owner/Lead Engineer Alan Roach and Product Development Engineer Stephen “Tex” Mitchell were avid Baja 1000 motorcycle racers who were able to fine tune a motorcycle’s limited light optics to maximize rider comfort, speed, and safety. As a result, BD lights have won every professional and amateur motorcycle and ATV Baja 1000 class for over 15 years.

As our engineers and racers advanced to truck and buggy racing, the next evolution began. The engineers quickly adapted their race winning HID motorcycle lights to their new race vehicles. With amazing speed, BD HID lights were adopted by the vehicle race community and could be found on the majority of Baja 1000 winning vehicles. In the process, BD engineers became well known as “The Scientists of Lighting” and were sought out by professional race teams to develop and aim their vehicle lighting.

LED lights were the next natural evolution of lighting and BD was the first company to develop a forward projecting LED light bar which was introduced and raced in the 2005 Baja 1000. That original LED light bar has evolved into a line of the highest performing and race winning LED lights on the market.

Revolutionizing industry leading lights is not just a job at BD, but a lifelong passion for both the owners and employees. The BD product line is dedicated to being BRIGHTER, BOLDER, and BETTER, which is why we truly are “The Scientists of Lighting”.
The auxiliary light section in our website has been empty for some time now, as we wanted to make sure we were bringing in a high quality product that we could stand behind. After looking at all possible options in just about every imaginable price point, Baja Designs came up as the clear leader and our choice for auxiliary lighting for your adventure bike.

In addition to some universal kits that will work great when clamped to engine guards / crashbars, BD makes an 8" LED light bar kit that mounts below the headlight. The amount of light output from these kits is absolutely incredible, and their durability and limited lifetime warranty will make this a long-term investment versus the more disposable eBay specials.

We already have some of BD's products on our site, and will be adding more shortly. Any questions or if you'd like to place an order, please feel free to email us.

Thanks!

The OnX LED light bar kit for the XT1200Z Super Tenere has been engineered by Baja Designs for optimal placement to throw huge illumination onto the road or trail while being protected in case of an "off". With four Cree XM-L2 LEDs, the OnX 8” LED light bar generates 4,300 lumens at 42 watts, ensuring you are never left without enough light.

The standard BD kit includes the Super Tenere mounting bracket and OnX LED light, but no wiring harness. There are two optional harnesses to complete your kit:
  • - Plug and play wiring harness with Skene PWM dimmer which allows you to adjust the brightness of the OnX in 5% increments. (BD Part # 64-0236)
  • - Plug and play wiring harness that includes a two position toggle switch and mode switch which allows you to adjust the light between 100%, 50% and strobe. (BD Part # 64-0237)

Is it standard to sell a light without a harness? I feel at least a basic harness should be included.

Hi TimLaw - thanks for your feedback! I know some guys have assembled their own basic relay-equipped harnesses for auxiliary lights which can be a less expensive option if you don't mind some DIY. That said, I agree that a "plug and play" solution is preferable, so we've provided options for the kit as-is without a harness, or with one of the two available harnesses as a bundled option. On any of the bundles, the price shown is for the OnX light bar, mounting brackets, and the selected wiring harness as one package.

Any other questions, please let me know.

Thanks!

Thank you for your response. I'm all out of plugs left to play with and on my next light purchase, will have to run it straight to the Eastern Beaver. Good looking light btw.
