Bad engine noise

Hi guys
I bought a new xtz1200 for about 5 months
Let's go to the point: since it had about 800 km in release and only in the rev range that goes from 2500 to about 1900 I feel a very annoying vibration, it seems to come from the engine. It is clearly a mechanical noise and not of creaking or any coupling.
The noise decreases a lot after about 15 minutes of use.
In addition, flush with the throttle with any gear at about 3500/4000 rpm you can hear a marked "fluttering" as a distribution.
The bike before these blessed 800 km did not make any noise, very quiet.

Given that the noise makes it more marked the first 15 minutes of use, I think that the clutch bell can be discarded, as I believe it would always do so.

Other details:
-if I accelerate from a standstill even when cold it makes no suspicious noise. It only happens on the go
-It started making this noise when I was on the highway at about 4000 rpm, I went out towards the highway, I started the accelerator again up to about 4500/5000 rpm and I felt as if something was stuck; from then on the problem arose, I also feel a general increase in engine vibrations.
- the noise is distinctly heard from the right side of the engine

Thanks to anyone who will help me

There's the official break-in that's addressed in the manual. Then there's the "real world" break-in; 5k miles. I didn't believe it at first, but there was a definite difference, for the better, at about that mileage.

seems To sound about the same as both Tenere’s I have owned but I’m also sure actually driving it might change my opinion.
Despite what many others seem to think about the Tenere engine I think it vibrates a lot and makes plenty of unwanted rattle sounds, but it keeps on running !
My 2018 often but not always has sort of a squeak coming from somewhere in the engine when it’s cold but it usually goes away when warmed up, at first I thought there must be something seriously wrong but 21,000 miles later it’s still doing it and running fine.

ok , the only thing that i don't understand is why for the first 800 km was very smooth and after plenty of ruttle engine noise.

This is a noisy motor by nature. When brand new, she's tight. As she loosens up more noise is inevitable. Just make sure there's oil in the motor. IF something does break, she's under warranty, and they'll fix it.

yes the oil level is ok and is new. The bike have only 2000km.
The dealer tell me is normal but at same time tell me to be careful that the ruttle does not increase....
Anyway thanks of all for your support .
very much appreciated

I just wanted to compare myself with you if it is a noise that yours also make or not. It seems to me like a timing chain tensioner ... but now I don't know anymore.

ok ok but i would to know what is the noise. The camchain tensioner or what. I have tried other 2 super tenere and none of the two do this .
Sorry for my poor english
There have been isolated instances of cam chain tensioner failure so you are correct in being concerned about it. It is difficult for us to judge from your video if yours is going to fail, but you have notified your dealer and it would be taken care of if it fails. I think my T12 has the noisiest engine of the dozens of bikes I've owned, but it keeps running fine. I wear earplugs and enjoy riding it.
Your English is fine.

I don't know what the warranty laws are in Italy, but if they allow you to have the Yamaha serviced anywhere and not just at the place you bought it from, I think I'd have another shop take a listen and see if they have a different opinion. And I would definitely start keeping notes on who I spoke to at the dealership (names, dates, times, etc) and what they specifically told me. Even if your warranty laws require that you have the bike serviced for warranty work where you bought it, I'd still try and get a second opinion from another shop. At the least, you could use that as some ammunition for any eventual fights with either your dealer or Yamaha.

It's true that these are noisy engines, and it's true that they do smooth as the break in period goes along. It does sound a little odd to me, but it's been a long time since my S10 was new, so maybe I don't remember what it sounded like back then. Cam chain noise from a failing cam chain tensioner happens immediately after startup, while at idle. You'd notice it first thing when you started the bike. This is a link to a thread on here that depicts the typical noisy cam chain at startup: https://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?threads/engine-noise-at-startup.30015/#post-440849

It's not apparent from your video if you have any accessories attached to the bike, like skid plates or crash bars, luggage racks, etc. Sometimes crash bars can cause a harmonic vibration at specific RPMs. Sometimes a loose bolt on an accessory can do the same thing.

Sounds normal to me. Can't hurt to go over the bike and carefully check all the bolts-nuts-screws-fasteners, etc, make sure nothing came loose.

My Altrider skid plate is very noisy between 2,500 and 4,500 RPM with harmonic vibration.

Buy the Yamaha extended warranty (if it is available in Italy) to set your mind at ease and ride the wheels off the bike. Also, get some documentation from the dealer that told you it was fine. The engine is noisy. I once had someone ask me if my bike was a diesel.

Since it's still under factory warranty I would take it back and have it inspected at a Yamaha dealership. They will drop the pan first and inspect the oil and check for metal bits. The bike sounds normal in the video but better safe than sorry.
