I know this is pretty far from motorcycle stuff, but....

Christmas is approaching. The significant other wants a backup camera for her 2010 Honda CR-V. She already has a Sony XAV-AX100 head unit, and I'd like to find a good camera that's compatible with it. I'm not much of a tech geek, so I don't know what would be a good one to get. I do want it to be a quality unit, but reading online reviews can be an exercise in frustration. Anyone care to offer a recommendation for a camera that's they've had some experience with?

Technically, ANYTHING built after 2018 HAS to have a back-up camera. RC, have you checked with a Honda dealer? They MIGHT have an inexpensive turn-key option. Or, at least recommend one that is compatible.

LOL, Fennellg, neither one of us are in the market for a new vehicle...her '10 Honda and my '07 Toyota suit us both just fine. The only new vehicle I'd consider would be a new Super Tenere.

I hadn't thought of that, Sierra. I'll look into it.

I have that exact same model of head unit in my 05 F250, got it because of CarPlay for my iPhone. I don't remember the model, but I have a cheap camera mounted to my back bumper thats been there since I bought the truck, and changed the head unit the first time. The big thing to remember is that all backup cameras are old school standard def, as that is the connection on the head units. The Sony has the guidelines built into it, so no need to get a camera with those. On a CRV, I'd find a decent license plate frame version, and mount that up. Crutchfield.com is a good resource for all things automotive electronic related.

Thanks AVGeek. I chatted with a Crutchfield rep yesterday and he recommended two different models for the Sony head: the Accele and the Crimestopper Cam 400.
