Hi, I bought the Tusk Tank bag which is very simple with 4 straps. Is there any way to avoid paint rub damage from the straps that hang off the rear and front of bag? I don't want the straps to rub marks and rub off the clear coat or worst yet the paint on the tank. Also, any tips or tricks to tidy up the straps that flap around?

Yes. This.

It's a clear protective cling film that covers the vulnerable areas of the tank. I've had it on my bike for years, and logged many miles with a tankbag, and my tank still looks new. It also protects the tank from things like zipper scratches when you mount the bike.

As far as tidying up the straps, I bought some of that two sided velcro tape they sell in hardware stores. I roll the excess webbing up and then velcro tape it to the strap itself. It's a quick easy way to keep it out of the way.

Once again, the spray wrap by Duplicolor. Mask off where do/don't want it, and spray it on. Go thick for better protection, and easier removal. Match the bike color, and it'll be hard to notice.

Or buy a tankbag that uses a tank ring to hold it in place instead of straps . They cost more but in my opinion well worth the extra money. I probably never would have spent the extra money for a tankring but it was included with my first Tenere and after using it I don’t think I will ever buy another Tankbag without a tankring.
