I decatted my stock exhaust and am glad I did it. Stainless steel just like the Arrow. Weighs the same as the Arrow when decatted. When you cut it open and see how restrictive the cat material is....you'll see what I mean.
Awesome !!! Thanks for the info brother !!!
Did you cut the hole in the cat and than just cleaned the cat stuff out or you cut the cat part of the exhaust out and removed the stuff inside that way ?
I watched the video on youtube and just wondering if theres an easier way to do it ?

I cut it in half like he did in step 1. Then I took the cat stuffing out of each side. Then I took it to a exhaust muffler shop and they welded it back together for $20.00USD. It's a chore to get the cat stuffing out!!!! I recommend using a reciprocating/sawzall to cut the cat in half. As far as what to use to get the cat stuffing out.....that would be tough. I used a variety of things like a spade bit on a drill. Took an hour and a half to get the cat stuffing out! If you do it like he did in the video, then it will probably go quicker. I don't have the welding equipment or the skill to weld it back together and it seemed it would be more for the muffler shop to do. Before you cut, take a sharpie or scratch a line so a welder will know exactly where to attach each cut side.

Thanks again . Assuming it's a real b...ch to get the cat stuff out . I'll have to cut the portion out it like he did in the video and you did .
If I won't forget I take pics. of the process in case someone else wants to use it as a reference .

Yes it was literally cut/weld/run .
Runs so much smoother , I could brag about this all day . Just look at the pics and see how restrictive that cat is . I think it even revs up faster in all rpm's . Engine braking reduction - not sure about that one , I didn't feel significant difference , but I'll ride again this weekend and pay more attention to that . Motor also runs cooler .
Why spend $300 on Arrows when you get even better results just modifying the stock ones .
I have a reflash done by Anthony which when he did it I requested for Arrow headers and aftermarket can . I'm really disappointed with the re-flash and was expecting so much more - anyway no back firing after de-cat . It's a closed loop with oxygen sensors , so I believe ECU adjusts to changes like that .
IMO it's a must do mod , seriously , that's how much I like how the bike runs without the cat .

Hey there Davesax36 . Yes I love the way decatted headers smoothed out the engine , love how it's running cooler and seems to rev better . De-catted headers on the other hand are not gonna change the fueling which I hopped the re- flash would do , but it didn't . Wish I could have throttle roll on/off like reflashed T mode , but the grunt of reflashed S mode and 20% less engine braking than the re-flash . Also cruise control off should be smother and not send me over the bars when I cancel it , so shouldn't the throttle off while changing gears . Anyway that's all my preference .
Stock headers are stainless steel , part where cat sits is regular carbon steel . ID of the stockers is the same as Arrows , but stockers have the part where cat was acting like a little expansion chamber , that might help the gas flow even better , but who knows I'm not the expert . I'm just posting my experience to share the info with nice folks and hopefully help somebody out that shares the same passion for the motorcycles .
Have a good one Dave , any questions just ask .

Yes that look like really blocking gas flow . Have to do on my bike as well.
Labas Antanai ,
Do it , I promise you won't be disappointed . This weekend when I'm not busy I'll make a "How to " thread with pictures . I think the way I did it it's much easier than the Ozzie guy in a YouTube video .

How much louder is it ?
It is just a tad deeper , but not really louder , maybe by a 3-5 db's or so . Just remember guys I still have a stock can and that thing is a choker as well . I would like to go with Akra because I like deep rumbling sound, but not too loud . It's just that the price for Akra is absolutely insane , hoping for a used one on a flea market ... wishful thinking probably....

Without dyno runs and quarter mile times and calculated fuel mileage you’re just guessing but if it feels better to you that’s all that matters.

I really don't know anything about power gains guys , remember on top of everything I still have a stock can . All I noticed is motor running smoother , cooler and I believe revs a little faster .
