Anyone know what these are?

While getting to know my Super Tenere 1200 and mounting some aux-lights, hooking up my GPS and heated gear pigtails I found what looks like 2 bulbs peeking out of the bike's wiring harness. I'm not sure they are bulbs, but they look like it. I've included a picture, can anyone tell me what they might be?

No pic visible, at least for me. What year is the bike? Location of the "bulbs"? Wild guess is grounding connections with clear heat-shrink or the left over connections from GEN I wiring recall?? They kinda-sorta look like bulbs.

Sorry but unable to see your pictures.
Heated gear can be wired directly off of the battery fused of course with a controller switch to regulate the amount of heat. As for the lights, there's an auxiliary plug on the lower right hand side of the bike located to the right of the battery and slightly higher than the battery approximately 2 inches to the right and 2 inches up from the battery.
You can buy a plug that fits onto this aux plug. Just be sure to install a fuse for EVERY ITEM, lights, 12 volt sockets or whatever else you decide to install.

I'm guessing as the pic isn't there but are there a couple of wires going into the 'bulb' and is the 'bulb' white in colour? I'd be included to this it's a sealed joint where a few wires are connected.

Okay let me try this again. The (what appear to be bulbs) objects in question are upper rear wire bundle area of the electrical panel, left hand side of bike. Let me try the picture again. There I think I got it to upload that time. I also added a new view with a circle and arrow to help you locate it.

Thanks everyone

Looks kind of like the epoxy wire splices the factory used on that last harness recall. You don't mention the year or what sort of things have been done to your bike. Nothing like that on my '12.

I'm sorry it is a 2013 and I bought it used. I've owned several Suzuki's, Kawasaki's, a BMW airhead and a Husky dirt bike, but this is my first Yamaha.

Uh, that would be the RIGHT hand side of your bike.

They do look very much like small light bulbs, but I can't believe they are stock, I have a 2016 model and there is nothing like that on it!! I suspect its something a previous owner added, could it be some kind of mood lighting that was fitted to highlight the engine and tank area? Many people fit LED lights to their car to make it look nice at night (complete waste of time and money in my opinion) but thought it could be that, but I would expect to see them on both sides of the motorcycle and in other places. Not sure what to suggest.

Yes, that looks like the splices for the Oct 2018 recall on the Gen 1, 2012 and 2013 models.
This recall fixes the Engine Does Not Return to Idle / No idle and high idle problem that some bikes were having.
Those bulbs are clear sealed splices as Don in Lodi said. Just to confirm, there should be 3 blues wires in one splice and 3 black/blue wires in the other splice.

The good news is these splices are located right where the recall instructions say to locate them and secured as per the instructions. I would think that is a sign the rest of the installation was done properly.

For more information, there are some threads on the problem and the fix for the problem.
No idle and high idle problem - this is where problems were being reported
Gen 1 new recall - this was started when the problem was acknowledged and a recall announced.

The Gen 1 new recall thread has a couple of good pictures of the splice. Reply #88 and Reply #96

Exactly as mentioned above wiring harness recall splices. Here is a better pic.
The bottom one in this pic is how they were done a dealer. I wanted them sealed better back to the harness covering the wires. I added some more heat shrink to cover the gap.
Good to know the previous owner had this taken care of.

well I guess we all learn something new every day, I have never seen wires spliced like that but it makes for a tidy water proof joint..

It was the first time I had seen splices like that, after I got my bike back from having the recall done.

Thanks everyone. I think that my question has been answered. The "bulb" like objects I was seeing feel more like silicone or rubbery, not glass. The updated wiring harness apparently has been done. That's good. I didn't think they were bulbs, but they just looked like bulbs. I do appreciate the input.

At least you know the recall has been done. The only other recall on that year was the headlight harness, and I would bet it was done since this one was.

If you send me your VIN number i can run it on yamaha and tell you if it has been done or not. I have a 13 model and i am pretty sure that i didnt have to mess with those and they were already on the bike. I dont think the recall involves those pretty sure the wires go right by them though. Heck idk maybe they did come on the new harness now that i think about it.

looks like they are twisted together then inserted into a silicon cap and then injection filled with either epoxy or silicon sealer.

Probably much better than a butt crimp connector.
