Anyone got this kind of corrosion in their wheels?

If oxidation of aluminum should occur, that would be the indicated place, the place where the aluminum is in contact with another metal, in this case, the spokes ..... this is apart from the oxidation by substance to alkaline or acid as previously mentioned
Sorry, I wasn’t clear, no flaking directly adjacent to where the spokes contact or on the spoke flange at all. Rather it flaked off the flatter parts where one would put self adhering balance weights. In my case though, it was several places around the rim, but nowhere there have ever been any weights adhered. It started happening fairly early on. Only recently got around to painting it.

It never appeared to be oxidized, just poorly adhered paint/plating from the factory.
