I got in 50 miles on the ST I bought on Tuesday and that was in 48 F temperatures. Been cold since then. I like winter but not when there is a new to me bike in the shop.

I understand Steve and not to rub it in but we had a perfect day today and I rode the WR450F in the morning and the Big XT in the afternoon. Not a cloud, 68F and about 5 mph today.
Sorry but we just don't get these kind of days this time of year so I had to tell you about it. :)

We moved South of the snow line for a reason. :)
Eric, If you still live in the Tupelo area, I know VERY well what you speak of. I moved here (northern Missouri) from near you, just up the Trace east of New Site, where the Trace crosses the Tenn-Tom just below Bay Springs Lake. Was born and raised down there. Have cousins in Tupelo, New Albany, and NW Alabama. I used to love the snow up here, until I had to deal with it as part of my job.

Also, if you were describing the motorcycle licensing process in Mississippi, I'm surprised by that. I got mine in Alabama and I don't think it's nearly that picky there. Of course, I got mine not long after internal combustion engines were invented back in 1969 or '70.

How do you store your Super Tenere? Looks I'm out on the injured list (not motorcycle related) for at least 6 months so no riding. I live in Southern CA so I figure to just start the bike every week or so and let it come up to temperature.
She sits under cover in my garage. I keep the temp above freezing. With a battery tender on.

I like all 4 seasons. Each one has its charms. It just seems like the transition from winter to spring takes forever. It has its own sub season “Mud”

Snowmobiling around here is fantastic. Nothing else like it. You can go anywhere, and with the new machines get into places where you can get killed. We have a couple of Avalanche deaths here annually.

Snowmobiling is like sex to me. If it’s boring you’re doing something wrong.
Riding trails is not my idea of a good time.

That's good advice on the snowmobiling. I have no illusions how dangerous those machines are. Fun and scary at the same time.

Chris, get healed up. No fun being down. I go in for surgery on the 2nd. Then have to take it easy again for two months.

Amazing what a difference it is even between Tupelo and Memphis, TN. The other day I ran up to Memphis to pick some stuff up and it was 10 degrees colder there than in Tupelo. Sunny and 56 in Tupelo, overcast and 46F in Memphis, TN. Probably even colder In Memphis, MO!

I've been up to New Site several times. I enjoy traveling on the Trace. Slower speed, but little traffic and often faster than the Interstate due to the route.

Things were different when we were young. That was MS licensing, over in Oxford. The 'test' was pretty relaxed, but maybe it's more serious when it's warmer?

@Mak10 - If I can do anything to make the time off the bike better, let me know.

Since I live in winter wonderland on Lake Superior I've been through a few winters, but the winter this year is the kind I dislike the most. We've had snow for 4 months already with several periods of warmups above 30* F. While some like the warmth, I don't. I like winter to be winter with lots of snow and don't mind the -40 temps as long as it is not for more than a couple weeks a time. A real winter to me makes the Spring that much sweeter, and time on the bike very much enjoyed over the 5 months of prime riding that we get.

I'm tired of every winter from the moment the leaves disappear, every damn year. Thankfully, this year has been kind to Toronto. Only one real snowfall of about 10-15cm last Saturday, which mostly got melted by the 20mm of rain we had yesterday. Temps for the most part have been hovering right around freezing.

Doubtful, but I'm hoping it stays this way to the end.

Yep! You're right. Memphis, MO is only 30 miles northeast of me and about 40 miles SSW of eemsreno, and I've got good friends that live there. It's even a few degrees colder there than it is here. And colder yet where eemsreno lives.

@Mak10: Was that you that had the spill? I imagine the landings are at least a little softer on a snowmobile than on a bike (or off, as the case may be). Is it as hard to right a snowmobile as it is a bike?

Winter has been pretty mild here so far. Even got out two weeks ago on a near 70 degree day. Unheard of in January. I'm sure we'll be paying for that sooner or later. We've had a couple of 13 degree morning, but I suspect mother nature won't let us get away with only that.

Yeah, it's been a long winter already. The first snowstorm came at the end of October. We have had a lot of snow, but there isn't enough on the ground to open the snowmobile trails because of the melting. It's 36F today and raining. Some trails were opened up about 100 miles north of here recently, but with the rain and warm temps they won't be open long. I enjoy snowmobiling, but we usually trailer them to Michigan's UP to get any decent riding. Winter sucks when your main hobby/passion is motorcycles.
I heard UP is primo right now
