Currently have a Metzler on the front of my 2018 and it’s a nice tire with extra grip in dirt or gravel.
Planning to use a pair of Metzlers for the next Alaska trip.

I put a set on last year when I couldn't find any Bridgestone Battle Wings. The Metzler Tourance tires are decent street tires, but only marginally better than the OEM Bridgstones off road. They are OK in the rain, similar to the Bridgestones. I have about 3,000 miles on them and the rear shows a fair amount of wear already. the front shows very little wear. I expect to see maybe 8,000 or so miles from the rear. Also, FWIW the set I have was made in China.

I’ve used these a few times on my Super Tenere and many times on my previous bike. I’d use them again without hesitation. I’ve never had any issues with grip, wet or dry and have used them on all sorts of roads, including alpine/mountain passes. My riding style is pushing on a bit in the twisties.

I usually get 6-7k per set.

This is on those tyres

Note- I only ride on tarmac.

I had them on both my R1150GSs and my Twin cam after the EXPs wore out, and I’ve had them twice on my R850GS and have a set to go on that fairly soon again now. I got them when M+P had them at £135 last year. My mate Charlie has had them on his S10 and reckons them as good as the A41s he’d always used before. But again the M+P deal was sooo good.
I always liked them.

I've used them on my Strom 1000 and loved them, I'd planned on using them on my S10 but used Tourance Next instead, also very good but a bit more expensive.

Funny thing i pick my tires for riding in Wales and Scotland mostly and won't put road tires on as i like a bit more like 80-20 but i see many people love the pilots and live in those areas. Horses for courses.

I had Metzeler Tourance 'Next' fitted last Autumn. £230 a pair balanced & fitted, they seem to suit the bike just fine.
These are my preferred tyres for the Super Tenere. The bike steers and turns nicely on these.

Hi Rob
Have you ever considered the Pirelli Scorpion Trail II ?
A lot but really a lot of people over here on their adv bikes ( GS & multistrada) fit them.
They perform quite well and last around 9000 miles.
People whom I spoke to are happy with them.
I thought it could be another option...

I have heard good things about the Pirelli Scorpion Trails II and the Continental Trail Attack 3 tyres, however, I haven’t tried either for myself.

I chose Continental because they " SEEM " better on paper ..
All the various reviews have read they end contending the podium, sometimes wins one, sometimes wins the other...
As I said both are very very popular here in Italy on our mountain, so I guess you can't be wrong either way you'd choose.
At the end you now better than I do, tires are a very personal matter...

Rob, I got a pair from M&P at that price in November - they're manufactured 4 years ago, but if you plan to use them this year they'll be fine. I tend to think that the 5 year old tyre guidance is a bit like yogurt "use by" dates! I reckon all modern tyres are good so it doesn't matter which you use.

I have some on the bike right now, they were a cheap pair deal last summer, possibly from M&P. Had them before and my preferred tyre (Avon Storm 3D) is no longer available for the front so I snapped them up.

Fine in the wet, I've squared them now going up and down the motorway to work (6,500 miles on them now) but loads of tread left on them. I'm living with them till I plan to go somewhere nice when I will pop the new Tourance EXPs on that are sitting in the garage.

Those EXPs are my favourite Tourance. Sadly they don’t make them any more.
