i'd just pick up a set of the trail 5's right now, but the rear is 250 bucks. I can get the 6 for 235. The regular PR5 rear is like 180 bucks. very tempting. I know the trail is designed for adventure bikes... am i really gonna notice?

basically looking for a tire to do 2 east coast runs (from colorado). I'd keep runing shinko 705's but i don't want to annoy my friend with the tire changer setup too much.

obviously expecting very little in off road performance, but incredible road performance. i'd really love to get 10,000 miles out of the rear, is that reasonable?

If you want to have the most fun, probably Road 6
Unless your shredding on some crazy off road the Road 6 would be a great long distance tire. Probably the GT

the GT doesn't appear to come in our sizes.

The super tenere is heavy for an adv bike, but by touring bike standards it's on the lighter side.

definitely looking forward to these tires, i had an SV650s with PR3's on it that saw quite a bit of gravel use. also plenty of rain. great tires.

I have PR5 Trails on my S10 for over 2 years and I really rate them very highly if you are only going to ride on tarmac. Excellent grip and good tyre life too.
Exact same experience. Great tires for hitting the twisties. Suck in any sort of gravel or dirt... like, really, really suck. LOL

I'm open to other long wearing tire ideas.

Seems like the trailmax missions and heidenau k60's (?) have a good rep for longevity, but also a bad rep for rain peformance.

honestly i pretty much ride pavement and gravel roads. and gravel not that often. I'll likely go back to shinko 705's after i wear the road 6's out.

I burn up tires too and was amazed on the wear of the anakee3 rear. Very street friendly, I never did alot of heavy rain. I never had a time in 6000 miles it felt bad, including some easy 2 track. I needed some meat for my Idaho trip, so did the tractionator adv but The anakee3 was about 1/2 done at the 6k mile mark. If I was to ride mostly street it would be my rear tire of choice. Probably with a 704 front. I live on dirt so I like a little more dirt traction in the front.

I actually have one with 300 miles in the closet if your in Colorado or need a reason to come to Colorado.

So quick update. I ended up putting the road 6's on my 2012 super t. Took them from Colorado to NY as well as about 1000 miles of local gravel and canyons. Very impressed. I'd expect 10k out of the rear. It squared off a little on that 3500 mile Midwest run, but that's to be expected. Nowhere near the wear bars anywhere. Very good in wet and dry, surprisingly good in gravel. Smooth riding, they lose no air at all sitting.

Very high quality tire in a long lasting grippy compound. I'd love if they weren't 400+ a set, but if you consider the cost of changing tires they're really quite economical.

Hey Sky4,

So, how many total miles do you think you will safely get on the Michelin Road 6 rear tire?

I think 10k is doable. I'll update when i replace it. Too early to know in the front, it's got some minor scalloping which is fairly unavoidable at least with the way i use brakes... Maybe it'll be good for 20k.

I'll be sure to update when i replace them.

Anyone using the Road 6? I've been running Road 5 Trails, but they've been discontinued.

I'm past 10,000 miles on my Road 5 trails. Still got a little life but will be replacing soon.

Same, I've run a couple of A3's and I like the rear a lot (never ran the front). It's my go-to pavement focused tire and it's what I picked for my cross-Canada trip in 2022. Didn't regret it.
