I've got the yamaha factory panniers at the moment. they're getting a little ragged, and i've never really liked... um much about them.

Other question- small medium or large? Leaning toward large. I want to be able to put my jacket and aerostich pants in them to lock up while i'm hiking or whatever. They seem to be some of the highest quality, best engineered boxes on the market. I'm about 90% road, with some occasional gravel roads and mild trails here and there.

It's a solid system. I've had mine since 2017. Only issue has been needing to lube a lock. They can handle a fair amount of weight. I've carried a case of beer in each pannier without issue. Used on washboard gravel carrying tools and clothes and such. They held up fine.

I went with the larger option at the time. My wife has the smaller pannier option for her Tiger 800. I like the larger one for doing exactly what you intend - cramming riding gear inside while leaving the bike.

Im a fan, but will also say that they are the only solid pannier/top box system I've owned.

i'm learning toward the larger option. i think it makes the whole setup 4"wider from one side to the other of the bike. I had a set of 90 liter Jesse's on my old R100GS. Didn't love the attachment system on that. I think it was from the 90s, so jesse stuff may be better by now. Bumot seems to be really well thought out.

Also look at the soft luggage uses the same mounting system. I too had to lube the latches. But it attracted the dirt and grime. The solution was to clean it well when washing the bike. Sprayed my car wax in there when waxing problem has not returned.

I might add soft luggage someday, but i need the hard luggage option as i often leave my bike at trailheads for many hours and need to secure gear...

I've got a pretty good selection of various dry lubes, i'll keep an eye on that.

Same here.
They are extremely solid!
I went with the "medium" option I believe. (not the widest ones)
They tuck in quite close to the bike. I did not want them any wider than the OEM ones that I took off.

I’ve got Metal Mule. British designed and made (in Dorset). Excellent kit which (according to one of the YouTube reviews) are actually bulletproof up to .22 calibre if I remember right!!

I have Givi Trekkers on my S10 (transferred from my previous S10) & Bumots on my GSA (because Bumot make an option to fit onto the OEM pannier frames/top box mount). Bumot are far superior but a little heavier

I have no experience with BUMOT but i really like the SOLOBOX set that i have on my super ten. They have held up well and priced very reasonably.

hey quick question on the largest bumots- any instability at higher speeds? I've been impressed with the stock boxes at triple digits. Hoping these will be the same deal. I may go mediums though... Not sure how much an inch or so of width is really going to change things.

I doubt there would be much different between the "Medium" ones and the Largest ones, as far as effects from the wind or fuel mileage are concerned.

I wanted ones that were similar in width to the OEM boxes, but more importantly, I did not want my side-case setup to be wider than the width of my Handlebars...........I think the largest ones would have been?

Not that I've noticed. I think I've always been below triple digits with the panniers, but haven't noticed anything in particular. They do affect your gas mileage a bit at highway speeds, but all boxes do that.
