Any Canadians purchasing from the US?

As the subject says, any Canadians considering purchasing a Tenere in the US and bringing it back to Canada? It looks like there could be up to $3000.00 savings buying in the US.

I know there are warranty issues. I'm familiar with the RIV site and will have to do some research there. Probably require a letter from the manufacturer for recalls, and would need an inspection etc.

Has anyone done it with a Tenere, or other new bike lately? Any cheaper or recommended states or dealers within a days travel from TO? I've heard some won't sell to Canadians.

I have looked into it to some extent in the past. It's a hassle. You would not only lose the 3 year warranty, but you'd lose any warranty in Canada. A U. S. bike VIN is not even in the Canadian computer system, so they can't warranty. Some dealers will not sell to you. Not sure the rationale there. You would need for the speedometer to be in KPH. I think the U. S. bikes might have both. You'll need an inspection and there will be a charge. You'll save a few bucks but at what cost? Just be sure you investigate thoroughly. It might work out for you .... might not be worth it. If you're close enough to the U. S. to have service and warranty done there, then might be ok. R

Can anyone confirm the speedos? Does the Canadian model have the ability to switch to mph? Does the US model have the ability to switch to KPH?

One thing I always hated about my V-Stroms was that Suzuki Canada couldn't see fit to even print the MPH on the face of the speedo, yet other countries had MPH and KPH.

You can switch the display to KPH, and the fuel mileage display give you the option of displaying MPG, km/L and L/100km....

I know where there is a unspoken for Black Super Tenere, still in the crate...the dealer is only asking $13,200 OTD. ???

If it was blue and closer than the west coast, I might be interested ;D Even being on the west coast wouldn't disuade me, but time off work might be an issue.
