Hello, been riding for about 22 years now, something over 160k miles. Having kids slowed down that, but I made up for that by taking a job 38 miles from the house.

Been Up to Alaska, over to the west coast, Florida and Ontario Canada. When I get my summers back I would like to head back to Alaska and out to the Canadian East coast. Other than that, putting close to 400 miles a week on the new bike.

Farkling has begun, with Trekker Outbacks and Denali break light. Have driving lights waiting to be put on this week as well.

Absolutely love the engine and cruise control on the S10!

Love not having to check the tire pressure at least once a week as well. Last 2 road bikes where a KLR650 and a Tiger 800XC. Loved both those bikes for their various goodnesses, but gosh darn it, no more tubes on the street for me! I can't count the number of flats I have on the KLT and Tiger. Between the 2 bikes about 55k miles, and at least 9 flats that I can recall. No more.EuFOvlaCRVuUPjDPYDzn2Q_thumb_19eb.jpg

Congratulations on the new bike !

After owning bikes with and without inner tubes I will never buy another motorcycle equipped with inner tubes.

Thank you.

And yeah, like I said, the KLR and Tiger both have their charm. Kinda wish Kawasaki had gotten a KLR with slightly better 2 piece frame, and the Verysys engine. Add in a few of the electronic goodies and tubeless and I would have been all over that.

I love the S-ten's engine. It's like wow! Just got back from a 80-100 mile shopping trip. Bopping along the HWY at 80mph with grunt left over in 6th. But honestly, a solid 650 with 60-70mpg and a 5-6gal tank would be awesome for LD travel.

And burn regular gas instead of the crazy expensive premium , about 700-800 cc with shaft drive and cruise control is what I would like to see, and get rid of the vibrating twins.

I will admit, that was my biggest concern about going from the Tiger to the Sten. But, luckily I have a Buc-ees close to being on my way home from work that serves up 92 octane ethanol free for about the same price of 89 octane with ethanol.

But, from what I've read there are several who have run regular gas in their S-ten's with no issues.

For commute duty right now, there are few bikes that would be better than the S-ten. The '01 FJR1300 was about the best, added cruise and it would be PERFECT. But, there are several roads not travelled when I had the FJR.

Welcome.

I just bought my XT1220Z last April. My previous 2 bikes were DR650 and 15' Tiger 800XCX. I was actually saving up to buy my Super tenere in 15' when I read about the updated Tigers with cruise, so I thought a lighter bike might be better. I loved the engine, and don't regret buying it all. However, the new Super Tenere is a much better fit for me as a touring bike. Even though it uses 91 octane and the others could use 87, the Super Tenere is actually getting better gas mileage than the other two at freeway speeds. So I think it is cheaper overall. So far I have not had trouble finding 91 on trips.

My only issue with premium is the price, around here premium is an extra 75 cents per gallon.

I have filled up with regular when premium wasn’t available and did not notice any running difference.

Yeah, at many stations around here premium is $0.60/gal more. Sucks, but oh well. The S-ten does get pretty great mileage for 1.2L !

That's pretty cool that for ADV-Tour style we have similar histories. I do wish the bike was lighter, but oh well.

cheers!

Welcome from Texas. Does the Tx in your stage name stand for Texas, or tax? I've learned over the years, having flats has a s**t ton to do with the brand of tire. I don't use Goodyear for anything; I think their steel belts are magnetized to attract nails. I'll use Bridgestone, BFG, and Hankook; hardly any flats ever. She does fine with regular. I do use premium in the summer when I ride loaded. (the bike being loaded that is)

Definitely Texas, lived here since fall of '98

And yes, as far as tires, I only use good tires and used good tubes. I will continue to use 92 Ethanol free from Buc-ees when I fill up there. Otherwise, we will see, situationally dependent.

Welcome! I like tubeless tires on the street too! I stopped into the Big Texan steak house in Amarillo this year. That whole city smelled like steak or BBQ! I would be wanting to eat all the time living in North Texas!
