I was thinking of using Jt's in Swansea for servicing while the warranty is running, are they any good on the S10's ? Normally I do all my own once the warranty runs out.

I bought my bike from them in 2016 and had the first and 2nd service with them and they were fine, like you I now service it myself as it's out of warranty.

I bought mine from JTs Bridgend dealership and dealt with Alex there and they were fine, I would recommend them ahead of most other South Wales dealerships.

Longdog, thanks, were you on the Versys froum, your name rings a bell ?, I'm right at the end of West Wales not too far from Fishguard so nearly all my rides head east. I know what you mean about the turbine like power of the Versys, I have tended to go for that type of engine in the past so this is a bit of an experiment but liking it so far.

Yoyo, yet another Swansea boy, cheers.

Hi Bart, yes, I was one of the originals on the Versys 1000 Forum. I have always liked the SuperTen but I really loved my Versys. After 5 years and lots of fantastic miles on the Versys, I had an itch and I had to scratch it and so I took the plunge for the S10 on the basis that if it didn’t work out, then I would trade it in for another Versys. So far, I have one Northern European trip which I did last October 2 months after buying the S10 and another similar trip coming in about 6 weeks time, so far, I am really enjoying the S10.

Just back from test ride.... v v impressed. Really nice bike to ride and no buffeting. I am going to buy one!! I am 5 foot eight but had no problems.
It will be a bit of a change from the MT-01. I have had other adv's GS 1150, Suzuki V Strom 1000, Aprilia Caponord but XT just feels so natural.

An almost identical thought process to myself.

I went from a Strom 1000 (06) and test rode the new model and the S10, I also considered the Versys but liked the idea of shaft drive, I was a little underwhelmed with the S10 but had read enough to know it would grow on me and it certainly has. I do miss that V-twin sound now and again though!

….Why should I deffo go for Super Ten? Thanks
If you're going to spend most of your time OFF road, lightly loaded, the AT would probably fit you better. For ANY other conditions, the Tenere is the way to go. Shaft drive, cruise control, 6.5 gal fuel tank, and the ability to be loaded up like a rented mule are some of the top reasons; AND she'll handle like a sport bike when you need her to. For ME, the Beemer was never a choice....too many dollars for too many problems.

id add that the long term reliability of the xt is un matched. The oil cooled bmw has only been out for two years so I’m not up on what costs will be but the oil cooled ones were high maintenance machines. I’ll admit that they were way more impressive to ride.
