Greetings form West Wales in the sunny UK ???

Later this week I'll be collecting a pre reg zero mile 18 ZE model, had a test ride on a normal one at the weekend and was smitten. My bikes in recent years have been a Versys 1000, two Versys 650's, CB1300S, XT660R plus others along side my old 99 Blade which I've had since new and can never see me ever selling.

These days I do over 10k miles a year and try to get away to Europe twice a year, cannot wait for the next one in April to Spain on the ZE.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone and the new bike......

Apologies in advance for any stupid questions I ask.

Welcome from Texas. I've been here a while, so they're used to stupid questions. But, try out the search tab, it may answer questions without asking.

First thing you should do is ping Chris Steedman for a flash. He sent me one he had developed for a stock ZE, turned a good motor into a great one, for 200 quid. Shoot him an email cjsducati@hotmail.co.uk

Hopefully it will be greetings from me soon.
Hi all
Have ridden GS1200 & Honda Africa twin. Out of the BMW and Honda I preferred the Honda by far. Wind noise / vibration is a big thing for me, how does the XT fare in this area. This will be my 36th bike over 50 years of riding. My current bike is the marvelous MT-01, great fun but ultimately highly impractical. Ran out of fuel at 119 miles from a brimmed tank and the noise with baffles in is loud, plus I seem to spend more time cleaning it than riding the charging rhino. Going for a test ride on XT1200 this weekend weather permitting, in "batten down the hatches" Northern Ireland ( of Backstop fame)

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, this is truly a international forum....the world seems to get smaller year on year

The search button is getting well used and seems to work well on this forum, I know it can get a little tedious if it is not used much.

Have seen a few "re flash" threads so will keep that on the back burner for the mo until she/it is run. On my test ride overall I found the XT's performance similar to the Versys 1k, just a bit less top end but more grunt...lovely jubbly as Dell Boy would say (non Brits may have to google that one).

Re the Africa Twin comparison, I'm sure others have more experience than myself at the moment, but I did ride a DCT version straight after the XT. I too like a smooth and quiet bike due to tinnitus issues, the XT is miles better aero wise and similar but different vibration wise. I also preferred the 19" front wheel on the XT. The Honda felt livelier as it's lighter but 1/4 mile times give the XT the nod.
The main thing for me was the XT just felt right, nicely made and great place to spend a day/week/month on.

I have a 8 hour plus round trip tomorrow to collect the bike, the weather is looking s**t but the good news I'll be in a van :)

Hello Bart and congratulations on your new ride, I think you will enjoy the SuperTen :) I came to the SuperTen after 5 brilliant years on a Versys 1000 and Although the S10 doesn’t have that turbine of a motor that the Versys has, it does have a lovely grunty motor and that V twin type power delivery.

By the way, whereabouts in West Wales are you?

Longdog, thanks, were you on the Versys froum, your name rings a bell ?, I'm right at the end of West Wales not too far from Fishguard so nearly all my rides head east. I know what you mean about the turbine like power of the Versys, I have tended to go for that type of engine in the past so this is a bit of an experiment but liking it so far.

Yoyo, yet another Swansea boy, cheers.

I was thinking of using Jt's in Swansea for servicing while the warranty is running, are they any good on the S10's ? Normally I do all my own once the warranty runs out.

Not wanting to be negative, but, if you want to feel turbine power....ride an FJR. And hold on tight.
