Just sent my ECU off to AVC8130. He received it on a Monday. It was reflashed and on its way back the same day. The bike works great and the service was impeccable. I highly recommend his service.

He recently did mine as well - quick turn. Because of the weather here and the fact that I have brand new tires, I didn't get a chance to do a long or aggressive ride but I like the changes. The engine braking in sport was a big thing that I didn't like and that is so much better now. Also, it's not as "snatchy"in S as it used to be. ::012::

My new headlights show up tomorrow and then I'll be farkled to the max.

Went for his reflash after dithering for awhile. great service and it feels livelier in T mode. I have not ridden it yet as the snow and ice need to melt, and the salt to wash off the roads. Soon, soon.....

I just bought a used 2012 Yamaha super tenere and was wondering is there any way to check to see if my ECU has been reflashed already. The reason I'm asking is the bike seems pretty Lively already

If you had a few miles on a known un-flashed bike it be easier to discern.

The reason so many folks say "wow" after the flash is because they never felt 1st-3rd gear unrestricted. But the second you twist the throttle, you KNOW.

However, if you think it feels "lively", that's a good thing!
Know anyone with a Tenere to compare?
It's not a subtle difference.

Sport mode. I ride pretty aggressive coming off sportbikes for years. I was just hoping that if top speed was limited stock and I can exceed that I could tell if ECU reflash was done. Or something along those lines. Do company put a sticker on ecu's or any other ways to tell?

Unfortunately, the only way to really tell is to get the ECU to somebody who can re-flash it. They will know as soon as they see the installed map.

Otherwise, see if you can find another Gen1 owner to compare with. If it feels good just wait till you find one. The bikes will start coming out of hibernation soon.

Usually a flashed ECU will have the first 3 gears rev limiter removed. Easy to check. If u can hit red line on 1st gear, then it is re-flashed. Try in both T and S mode as some chose to leave T mode stock and make changes to S mode.

With a reflash, the relationship between the twistgrip and the throttle body butterflies are manipulated, with some fueling and timing changes also. The rev-limiter is NOT removed.

I believe there are only two main sources for reflashes; Anthony and ECU Unleashed
I'm sure both record the s/n of the ECU's they flash. If they enter these s/n's into a searchable database they could easily tell you history of your ECU if any. They might not want to hassle with it and tell you to pound sand but it is a reasonable request.

"I am considering to use your ECU reflash service. However I bought my bike used and unknown if it is already flashed. If I spent the time and money to have my ECU flashed and achieved no gains due to it already being flashed I would be a very disappointed customer. Can you search your database and advise if and what reflash was performed on my ECU s/n: XXXX ?"

Surely if you can't tell whether your bike has been re flashed or not why would you be bothered either way?? ::021::
What??
If you've only ridden a single Tenere how on earth could you tell? It takes two of anything to compare.

Looking to get my ECU reflashed. Warranty is almost done and its time to finish tweaking the bike.

Sent Anthony a PM on the big board and waiting to hear back.... so a few questions that perhaps someone could answer.

How many (generic) different maps are there and what are they?

What have you had done, and do you like them or would you pick a different map?

I'm thinking about one for road/twisties and one for dirt/fire roads.. so a fast and slow map, i'd assume that what most do?

The map Tony installs can be anything you want. While it's not generic, he's been doing this for enough years now that he's got a good feel for what works when you talk to him.

I kept the T mode fairly stock and had him slightly back off the engine braking. It was great for 2-up, rain, and commuting. The Sport mode map was just that.

You can tell if your bike has been flashed by when your fan comes on. Both flash providers change the cooling fan activation to a lower temperature than factory. Not sure of the numbers and am not near a source of the information, but I bet someone else here will know....

Stock is usually fan on at 221 and fan off at 212.

I know Anthony lowers his fan on, Unleashed does as well? That's handy to know.
