interesting but the roads look like crap for motorcycle riding over there. I've also heard that it's a really bad dealer. But who knows I might go anyway. thanks for posting

is that a complaint about having to ride over and TEST RIDE A TENERE!!!!! Oh, life is soo damn hard!!!! Swap me places for about an hour, I will surely go and ride it, even if there was lava on the road and bad service from the dealer. It doesn't mean i have to like the dealer. I want a ride!!!

I wont buy from them now, but if I got the time I will go out there and ride a Tenere. I wanted to buy a bike last time I was out there and they didn't want to make a deal. So I went to my local dealer and he sold the bike for the price I was looking to pay.

what are the roads like over there? On the map it looks like like an industrial grid with stop and go lights everywhere. Pretty pointless to test ride a bike in that environment

the main road into there is a lot of lights. But they take you on the back roads around there. It is not that bad of a ride, when I went last time they had an open house for BMW. The ride on the Tenere was short but the BMW ride was nice.

The roads east of that shop are a bit congested, but once you start heading west there are some really nice places to ride. From quiet Amish farm land to twisty mountains. I am heading out tomorrow for an early morning run to watch a rock crawling event with a buddy and will probably hit around 240 miles or so, most of which is twisty quiet back roads.

I did the test ride at this shop when it the ST was at the BMW open house as well. The ST route was all back roads, but nothing very exciting. Hopefully I can make it again and see if I can't convince them we need some more seat time on it to be able to really appreciate it.

So if I leave Friday after work, ride until past midnight, check into a motel and get a decent amount of sleep, and stroll into this dealer sometime mid-morning, will I still be able to get a turn? Or do I need to skip the motel and camp in their parking lot? I can't get Friday off work.

There aren't any closer demos on the schedule, and it's not like I will cry if I wake up on the Saturday morning of a three-day weekend, already this close to WV. :)

Also, anyone got a motel recommendation? I should probably make reservations since it is a holiday weekend. I can hunt up something online, but if anyone is familiar with the area, maybe you have suggestions?

Well you know you should have come to Romney last weekend don't you? I was there Friday and no problem getting multiple rides - 2 on the S10, and one each on the V-Max and R1 (both awesome in their own way, but not for me...). I don't know how much busier it was on Saturday - anybody here there for that?

Romney was actually on my list, but I had a family emergency and couldn't get away. Oh well. This Montgomery Cycle is slightly closer, and with the three day weekend I can stay in WV an extra day, so it's all good. Too bad I can't get Friday off, but oh well.

If the weather is decent I might just go straight there and sleep in their parking lot. Eight or ten years back, I went to the Women in Motorcycle conference, specifically for the demo rides. I left after work, got there around 3am, and slept in instead of going straight to the demo trucks. Only to discover that none of the OEMs except BMW and Kawi had brought anything but cruisers. (The "shrink and pink" theory of marketing to women, strikes again.) And I couldn't get on a GS because I didn't get there until they'd been open for an hour, and all the spots were taken. The BMW folks said "Oh, just ride one of the other bikes, we stop halfway so people can trade, you can try a GS then." But at the halfway point the man who had the GS refused to trade, and I got stuck riding this horrid R1200C. I did score demos on a couple of nice Kawis, at least.

I'm thinking I could get a room at North Bend for Saturday night, perhaps Sunday as well. Now I just have to decide if I'm taking the TDM or the NT. It would be nice to compare the TDM side by side with the S10. But for just pounding miles to get down there Friday night, the NT will be more comfy. I guess I can wait and see what the weather is like.

If you call them, they will often pre-schedule a time slot for you. That way you just show up for your time and off you go.

Are you really coming Michigan just to do a Demo on the S10? ???

I'll try calling them - couldn't hurt, and it's always better to get enough sleep before riding someone else's bike. :)

Why not ride from Michigan? I ride in that direction all the time, especially on three day weekends. The only hardship will be to get there by Saturday morning. When I just go to ride, I'd leave the slab much sooner, and I wouldn't normally get across the Ohio River until Saturday afternoon. And I normally don't bother with PA - my experience is that their pavement is not nearly as good as WV and OH.

I don't have an S10 on order, but I sat on both the show bikes, and came back to them over and over. A demo ride is a logical step in deciding whether to order one next winter. The other step is to follow this forum as I think about this summer and fall. I like to think long and hard about these things, the delicious indecision is part of the fun.

I am in the same boat! Was really tempted to buy into the new Duc MS1200, test rode it, liked everything but the price, then the Yamaha became a reality and I got to demo one a few months ago and loved it but I missed the pre-order deadline :'( So now I just follow along here and hope some real world US reports come in as good as the hype has been and then hope I can find one to buy

It is typical suburban Philly stuff, but where this shop is located, it starts to give way to some nice back roads. I used to live about ten miles from there, it should be good enough riding to find out what you need to know. They're also a BMW dealer for those that like back to back comparisons.

So people like the dealer, some don't. I know some in both camps. I'd say it is a fairly typical urban/suburban motorcycle shop, which have a different flavor than either small town or rural shops. They also own what was Blackman's Cycle, another shop a bit north of there. Its a demo, not a date. I missed the last one of these, I think I'll ride down and see what I can ride on Friday. If I can pre-arrange, all the better, as I'm about as far north and west as someone coming from NYC is north and east. We have outstanding MC roads up my way, but less so down there. Montgomeryville/Souderton area is a hike for me, but I need to get out anyway, so why not get a S10 ride.

That anniversary VFR is a nice ride too. Have you seen the Crossrunner reviews coming out of Europe? Basically your 6th gen VFR dressed up in adventure bike trim? I'd have a hard time resisting that if they brought it here. I loved my 4th gen VFR. And then there are the spy pics and rumors about a VFR1200 adventure bike...

I almost ordered an S10 after sitting on it at the show, but I just got the NT last year, and buying a new bike two years in a row seemed like financial insanity, especially in this economy, and besides, what if Honda brings us some goodies next winter? So I stayed on the fence for another year, promising myself I'd ride out and meet the Yamaha demo truck SOMEWHERE this summer.

Philly? I mapquested for Hatfield PA and it puts it about halfway between Pittsburgh and Morgantown WV. But seeing your post, I went back and mapquested for the exact address on the flyer, and dammit, it is coming up at the Philly end of the state. That's annoying. Are there two Hatfield PAs???

There's no way I can work until 6pm on Friday, and get there before they close on Saturday, not if I want to be in any shape to ride someone else's bike. Argh!

I guess it's a good thing I didn't ride to Pittsburgh yet.

Back to the list of demos. Where oh where can I meet this demo truck...?

"Roar on the Shore Rally" in Erie PA, July 14-16. I am actually on vacation all that week. Meeting friends at Willville on the 15th, and planning to spend the week prior just messing around on the Blue Ridge. I supposed I could go to Erie on Thursday, and get to Willville late.

Anyone know anything about this rally? The website looks like a typical HD loud pipe beer party. I can't stand riding slow in a horde, or getting catcalled by "bikers". But I suppose it can't be too crazy on Thursday; I can flee before the heavy drinking starts.

The are several doubles and a few triples. That's why you go to the Yamaha website, and get the map from the page that shows the demos.

Too bad they didn't have it in Panic, Desire or Drain Lick. ( very close to Dubois) that would get the wags going.....

We do this to town names to confuse the enemy......
