Hey guys....all door upgrade kit orders are on their way! One quick note...I think DS Bike may use a small dab of LocTite on the screw that holds the cam arm onto the lock (and by default, the lock cylinder in the housing). It's nothing that can't be overcome with a little bit of extra torque, but you'll want to have a proper fitting screwdriver bit to make sure it comes out clean.

Thanks!

My turn lights are on flexible stalks, so I just gently push it out of the way to open the box. ::021::
But I think you have the smaller lights in the UK that are only on the latest bikers here, so that's not such an easy option for 2012 / 13 owners. The boxes were presumably designed around the Euro spec lights, not the original North American spec. FWIW.

I just installed this toolbox on my US-spec 2014 ES and it fits fine. I mounted it as far forward as the brackets would allow, and installed the door with the lock at the bottom as suggested above. Accessing the lock and opening the door is no problem, at least on a 2014 bike.

FYI....I have the Givi Trekker Outback side case frames on my bike, and the tool box just barely fits inside the rack. I placed two large fender washers under the rear bracket to lower the rear of the toolbox slightly. This was probably not necessary, but it provided a little more clearance from the case rack.

Hey V35A - thanks for the feedback! Really glad to hear the SW-MOTECH/TraX application works behind the GIVI CAM racks....one more fitment confirmed! :D

Thanks.....

can I find one in Australia
Hi Philistine - we ship down under all the time. Are you looking for the toolbox or just the upgraded door? We just received a partial shipment from DS Bike today and have stock of the new "Gen III" toolboxes in both anodized silver and black....pictures and water resistance videos to follow shortly!

A bit overdue, but here's a video from DS Bike's Benelux distributor (Starcom1) showing the new Gen III toolbox and improved waterproofness. The raidboxes are now fully welded and anodized in your choice of silver or black, and come standard with the upgraded door and seal, as well as a new lockset with rubber dust cover. I've got a some stock in both finishes....there may be a slight upcharge coming for the Gen III model due to the more labor-intensive construction (working on cost with DSBP), but if you place your order before I get a few free minutes to update the website, you can get a Gen III box for a Gen II price! ::024::

Please note - all OEM Yamaha system raidboxes (which also fit Happy Trail, Hepco-Becker, and other racks) we have in stock are the Gen III design. I do have two Gen I SW-MOTECH TraX boxes left in stock in natural finish, as well as Gen II replacement doors to upgrade them. Ping me if you're interested in a combo deal...I'm not sure if the new Gen III box will be available for TraX racks going forward.

Thanks!

Does this tool box fit with Jesse Panniers/sidecases installed?
Hi lewisclarke - my guess is probably not. Jesse systems (like Holan) tend to fit pretty close to the bike and there's probably not going to be enough room to fit the box.

Thanks!

Jason, forgot to thank you for the fast service of getting me the new door for the aluminum tool box. My Tenere is still in the shop so I have not installed it.

Happy to help - hope your bike escapes from the shop soon and is ready to pound out some big miles!

What's the ETA to have SW Motech Trax compatible and in black stock?
Hi Rockhopper - I don't have a firm ETA at this time. The TraX application requires a custom-sized box and has been pretty low volume compared to sales of the OEM box. I should have 1-2 earlier generation boxes in stock that can be upgraded to the new Gen III door, but they will be in natural aluminum. Maybe a quick shot of Plastidip might black it out and get you on the road?

Thanks!

Hi Jason,

I installed the Universal joint protector I ordered from you and it was super easy. Very pleased with the product. Thanks!

What are the differences between Gen II and III?

I'm not particularly handy and don't even know what plastidip is. I'll research a bit and come back.

What's the current pricing for a Gen II looking like?

Gen III fixed an issue where water could leak into the toolbox. No more rusty tools with Gen III!

Plastidip is a spray paint-like material that adds a textured coating of material to whatever you're painting. The key benefit of Plastidip is that it's not permanent and can be peeled off.

Thanks! I'd obviously wouldn't want the box to leak, so I'd have to get a Gen III.

I'll do some more research on that Plastidip. Seems interesting.
