Hey everyone, just picked up a 2014 super 10 however, it came with the cheap factory saddlebags. Would like to have some solid aluminum cases and wondering, if anyone knows where I could pick up a set reasonable. I’m finding it hard to spend 2000+ dollars for a pair of cases and a top box. Yes, I am cheap.

Look for used boxes on eBay. Some sellers don't know the difference between factory bags and non-factory panniers, expecially Zega brand, which made factory panniers for BMW and KTM as well as Ducati. You can't use the factory bags on non-factory racks, but if you find non-ORM panniers they fit multiple racks in some cases. Don't forget to check the forum here too.

These are new and in the US, but may be a consideration for you. TUSK $221 USD You might investigate Tusk near you.

Other brands to explore:

Hepco & Becker Xplorer
TraX ION
Givi Trekker Outback

Ex Military boxes can be adapted to work if you have the time and are willing to put in the effort.
Mermite box ECS Cases

Happy Trails makes solid racks too. https://www.happy-trail.com/

I really really really didn't want to fork out the money for the Givi Trekker Outback's, forgot about the price after the first trip. Fantastic bags.

GP Bikes gave me a 20% discount on a one time purchase. I looked at the Trekkers, but with saddlebags and top box, it’s pushing close to $2500. Ouch!

Yeah, it's insane. I bought mine lightly used off Kijiji for $1800 for a full three box set. Way more than I wanted, but I guess cheaper than retail.

Just checked Motostorm.it and 3 bags with racks and 3 lock cylinders comes to $1250usd, $1640cad.

Not sure if I selected the correct right and left panniers, but the pricing gives you an idea.

PS, I have the silver bags, but would much rather have the black.

Thanks for the Motostorm info, I’ll check it out.

Yes, I have checked Kijiji as well but there’s nothing on it. Eric suggested eBay.ca and I found the Tusk panniers very reasonably priced at $350 Canadian includes shipping! Brackets are extra. Fitted with a GIvi top box, and it’s well under $1000 Canadian. Amazon Canada has it listed as well however, they are currently out of stock with no future date available.

Check out SOLOBOX panniers. He also offers top boxes at a reasonable price. I didn't think much of the factory side cases either, but they have served me just fine for about 4 years. My S10 came with them. I wouldn't buy them at the dealer prices, but mine were basically free.

Although I'd go Mosko Moto if I were to do it again, here are two aluminum examples from ADRider.com flea market:

https://advrider.com/f/threads/r1200gs-touratech-zega-panniers.1413934/

You need to be quick though.

And if you think the factory boxes are not rugged enough: https://www.webbikeworld.com/yamaha-super-tenere/

Those are some amazing deals in bags! Will have to get into that.

That’s shocking what happened to the motorcycle and the factory bags! It appears that the motorcycle bounced like a basketball and survived major damage, especially to the frame. A testimonial to Yamaha engineering.

If you like the look of a basic aluminum box like the Tusk, there is a guy in Calgary who makes a very similar product. Dirt Baggs is the name he uses. I bought a set a few years ago and am happy with them. He makes mounts for some bikes as well, but I don't think he has any for the Tenere. I mounted them to a set of SWMotec racks, but can be mounted to just about any rack. He makes top boxes as well.
He makes 7.5 inch or 9 inch cases in a couple of different styles. Raw aluminum, powder coat grey or black. Looks like prices have gone up a bit since I bought mine, but every now and then I see he has deals on left over sets.
He is on Facebook under the Dirtbaggs name.

Those bags look good! Are they waterproof?
Did you fabricate the back plate between the bags over the backseat? Perfect for a dry bag.

There’s a guy in Ontario, selling solo boxes on Kijiji. Two boxes for $480 Canadian. No mounting brackets. I’d have to come up with a way to fitting them.

Solo boxes are nice and that is a good price.
Yes the boxes are water tight. Rubber seal under the lid that compresses when the lid is closed. Fully welded aluminum, no riveted panels or corners that can leak. I have added hinges to the lids to make them work better for me.

Rear plate made from some scrap 6mm aluminum. Rear seat is removed and it mounts nice and low. I could have put it over the seat but I never take a passenger and wanted it as low as possible to have a nice big flat area for a dry bag or carrying lots of gear if needed.
Lots of ways to mount cases if you are handy and like making stuff yourself. There are some pics of my mounting system in some of the other forums. Others have posted some good homemade mounting systems as well.

Another option that just popped up on the forum in another thread. They look a lot like Zega OEM cases, but have standard puck style mounting like Zega Pros, but at a much better price. No direct experience and I don't know who is making them, only this info from the link posted. Brooks Pannier system. Both side panniers and racks for $796 USD. Probably plus shipping, but worth checking out.

edit: Looks like the black ones are in stock, but not the plain aluminum versions.
