I received my package from ALTrider today and was really happy with everything. First, the packaging was 1st rate, no chance of scratched parts and everything was in it's own plastic bag, with the part wrapped in stickon bubble wrap Neat stuff, first time I've seen it.

Fed-ex was a little slow in the delivery..

The bars looked great. A nice satin black powder coat, that was very even. The welds were even and laid in correctly. Looked great.
Weight with all the bits was 11lbs.

The crash plate was the same powder coat and again the welds were perfect. the weight with brackets and bits was 9lbs.

The luggage rack with the Givi mount kit was the same as above as was the other small pieces. It comes with the piece used to lift the plated and make the cubby hole. You can mount it either way. The weight was 4.11lbs.

The price was more than some others, but it is worth it in my opinion, and it is made in the USA.

That should be the last large package, I hope. My card can't take much more. :'(

Just got notified that Fed Ex will be delivering my ALTRider crash bars and skid plate on April 8th! Received my Micatech's yesterday.

The bike has all the farkles it's going to get until I actually get the bike.

Yeah, good call I think. Given the uncertain status of all things Yamaha just now, I guess I'm about as farkled as I need to be. It will be depressing staring at all that stuff for the next few ...... months ???? The situation in Japan is becoming more serious almost daily. My feeling is that, after all is said and done (more being said than done has contributed to the situation), they are going to lose a big chunk of that island due to it being uninhabitable. I sure hope not, but I'm thinking so. R

I am sure the radiation is a problem, but not as much as one may think. The half life on iodine 131 is only 8 days. Once they seal the reactors it will be a short time before things get back to normal. The levels of radiation in the Tokyo water supply have already decayed to a much lower level. That is not to say there will not be spikes, but they will decay very fast. If this were 129, the half life is around 15 million years, so it could be much worse. Relatively speaking of course.

Got my crash bars today, same apparent good quality as my skid plate. 4 farkles down, quite a few more to go.

You need a sparkle in your farkle. I'm gonna hold off for now and see when the bad boy comes home to papa. It's almost certainly gonna be later than I had anticipated. If it's August, I'll wait and accept delivery next spring. I'm still chipping ice trying to get out of my driveway right now. Anyone ever heard of an ice-breaking farkle for your motorsickel ???? Only in Canada, eh ????

I'm almost at that point. I considered a small jack hammer. I'm tired of using the manual Rem hammer. Last night I applied about 40 pounds of salt. I think that's gonna work. But the forecast for today is not great. Barely above freezing. However, and I think this qualifies as a farkle, I took delivery of my new motorsickel trailer a couple days ago. It will haul two bikes, so I can get out of here in late fall, or even during the middle of winter. I can find some ice free part of the world anytime I want to. I painted the inside yesterday. Put a couple chocks in it and all of a sudden my riding season had been substantially extended. Mighty fine. R

Hey that's great news on the trailer!! If I live in the great white north, I'm sure there would be one in my yard....... Of course in Texas I don't need one.. >:D

That's cruel. Cruel and unusual punishment. However, there are those who would say I deserve it.

Okay, now I'm really depressed. I'm gonna go pet my new trailer. R
