Yeah I'm hoping for some good stuff, too. Not necessarily trying to pin down group events or anything, since we all know interests can vary widely between one person and another.

Just hoping to familiarize myself so that I can relay the ideas to her so she feels comfortable going off on her own, or with a few others if it gets to that.

Having this thread work out is my only golden ticket for a day or two of solo riding ::26::

Durango is a real city with lots of things to do and Silverton is just awesome, [small] BUT A lady would need to be very brave and a good driver to drive the Million Dollar highway.
If you over heat brakes on that road your history.
Montrose would be their best choice.

Is my google-fu correct that the closest place to rent a car from the KOA in Ouray is at the Telluride Regional Airport? Almost an hour away?

Karson, I'm such a word traveler that I have never flown commercially or rented a car.

Two up here! There is "Box Canyon Falls" and Ouray Brewery downtown. Swimming in the hot springs and gift shops galor. I'll be doing a MEMORY LANE ride one of the days, which is easy but some of the most beautiful riding you'll see in western Colorado. North from Ouray left to Silver Jack Res. over the pass to Morrow Point Dam, which my grandfather help build, into the Black Canyon National Mon., back through Montrose and then to Ouray for Beers.

I will be two-up and pone-up depending on the day. My wife wants to spend a whole day (or more) at Meas verde so we may grab an overnighter at the motel there too.
If I end up bringing the truck (in case we get a group 'drive' together) I'll throw in a small telescope for some stargazing tours.
I'm still planning some Geocaching adventure and I have a contact that might be able to set us up at a shooting range in the area.

Canyon City is a couple-hundred miles east, but might make a good street ride day to go see the bridge.

Here's some CitySearch info:

http://www.citysearch.com/search?what=entertainement&listingId=&where=ouray%2C+co&geoId=
http://www.citysearch.com/search?what=lodging&listingId=&where=ouray%2C+co&geoId=

Looks better every week that I'll actually be able to attend! Let's see how this whole furlough/sequestration thing works out :-X

I'm still on the fence for this. But if I do come out with the wife, I'll be towing a toy hauler. Which means we'll have a quad cab that could be put to use for those that want to do other things...

Yeah I'm on the fence about (cough) trailering the bike out behind the JKU. That might save some headache for her if she went out and about solo and also some piece of mind with she'd be driving a familiar vehicle...

Same here. Getting some pushback from the sister about riding ALL THE WAY to Colorado. "I thought we were riding IN Colorado". :)

So the ladies might end up with a truck to use if they do let us boys have a solo day.

My wife can last though. She did a 10 hours run in almost constant rain in Australia. After 30 years, she still surprises me.

Came home after playing golf one day, 15 years ago, and she wasn't anywhere to be found. When she finally got home, all she had was a grin on her face and a VHS tape in her hand.

She loaded it and hit play.

That lady jumped out of an airplane while I was shooting a round. Never said one word about skydiving to me in her life.

??? ???  After 15 years, if my wife did that I would have to have call the boys with the long-sleeved white coats.

The first two sentences piqued my interests and thought we were headed down "Jo Momma" in advrider land. :D The third sentence brought me back to reality. ::003::

Funny story no matter what the spin you put on it!

Just showed this to the wife AND sister.

"What's Jo Momma?" :)

I told them they will get to meet YOU in late June. You can explain.

Just tell them the subcaption for that forum over there is, "Not for the faint of heart". And, for the most part, it holds true. :D

I'll do my best to explain, but might have to plead the fifth...

Hey, is anyone that is going to the rally into fly fishing? I suck at it, but may take a day and try to find a remote stream on the S10. I always carry my trusty break down rod and a few flies.

If you know a good place to go or what to use/expect that time of year please speak up.

I'm all ears too. I'd be coming with a couple ultralight rods and some simple trout rigs as a diversion activity if the wife wants...

Colorado has lots of gold medal trout fishing in the area. http://www.bigtrout.com/goldmedal.html
