After lurking....my new 2017 came home..

Well,
After researching and reading tons of postings, I pulled the trigger and traded in a Road King for a new blue ST. (I only had the RK since last August, it just didn't go with my FJR). I already ordered Solobox panniers and top box and side deflectors. Still deciding on a new windshield. Parabellum or Madstat??? I did notice that it sometimes was a little uneasy to start, like the battery wasn't quite powerful enough even tho its been on the Tender all the time.

It joins my 2015 FJR and after this riding season I may go to down to one bike but I do like the power of the FJR. .

Anyway, thought I would shout out to everyone. Some great info on this forum no one seems to jump down our throat like another one I am on......won't mention the FJR name.

Welcome! Regarding the battery, if your bike is still brand new, I think that is pretty normal until you get it broken in. I know mine did the same. It will run a lot smoother and start easier in a few thousand miles.

That being said, I know others have expressed that the stock battery is not the best. I think most keep it until they need a new one and upgrade. I have not done that yet, but I know if you search the forum you will find threads talking about better battery options.

that slow I'm not really in a hurry to start sound when you push the button is a normal sound for the tenere . at least the ones ive been around. I'm on my third battery ,from stock battery to lithium back to stock battery it sounds the same....

Welcome from another former FJR owner. There are a couple of FJR forums out there-I must have been on the other one as I did not run into that. I think you will find this forum quite helpful and the people are easy to get along with. Enjoy the new ride.

Welcome. Former FJR owner here. My old knees forced the swap. No regrets. But there is nothing like the silky smooth HP of the FJR. If you can keep both, do it!
